Con la plantilla para tus páginas interiores todavía abierta, ve al panel Páginas (Ventana > Páginas) y haz doble click en el ícono A-Página Maestra en la sección superior del panel. Ésto abrirá la pagina maestra en tu pantalla.

En el pasado utilizaba programitas para numerar pero el problema que tenia era que tenia que pasar la hoja dos veces por la impresora, una para imprimir el trabajo en si y otra vez para numerar, esto te permite hacer ambas cosas a la vez y no tener que estar tratando que coinsidan ambas impresiones.

There is very simple solution that we use and that is to lay out the sheet say 6 up on a A4 sheet as a master page and in document setup set the number of pages to 1,000 if that is the amount you require. Put a page number on each ticket on the page and although they will all have the same number on each page, we put the the first two letters of the customers business name before each number followed by the letters of the alphabet so it then reads for example BT1A, BT2A, BT3A, BT1B, BT2B, BT2C and so on as each page is printed.

The learning curve was a bit steep but once I got the hang of it – no problem. Print, perf & cut….can have 1000 tickets done in an hour if necessary. You can change number size, font, color, alpha prefix, add pix & graphics…….

Sequential/Serial numbering is available on many products such as business cards, flyers, and posters (at an additional cost) but can only be done with our Digital Output printing service (not available with Offset Output). Generally, when you want to change the formatting of some text, you have to select it with the Type tool. However, there are two caveats to this statement. Una vez que hayas dividido el doc en las secciones que necesites, inserta número de página. What if I need to create 200 vouchers and each has a unique code not in any sort of numeric or alphabetical order. The codes are listed in excel under one column. Is there a way to link the text frame on a master page where the codes should be placed to the excel document to assign one code per voucher?

FWIW, you could get rid of the ‘\* MERGEFORMAT ‘ without doing any harm to the fields. If you want to, press Alt-F9 to expose the field codes, then use Find/Replace with ‘\* MERGEFORMAT ‘ as the Find string and nothing for the Replace string. Press Alt-F9 again to toggle the display again afterwards.

The script does have a list of its features on its website but unfortunately doesn’t feature a written how-to, and understanding some of the features can be a little confusing. So I’m taking it upon myself to explain it a bit.

In Part I, I covered how to create a traditional outline list. Now I’m going to walk through the steps of creating a multi-level list frequently used in academic papers, user guides, and military documents.

You can add or remove consecutive page numbers for an entire publication by working from a master page. If you have multiple master pages in your publication, you need to repeat these steps for every master page you use.

I used multi-level lists for this sort of thing. When defining my list, I type “Interrogatory No.” before the number field in the number format definition, link it to a list style, 2nd level I type “Request for Production No”, link it to another list style. I’ll use “Answer” with no number as another level of the list. Then I modify the linked styles so the paragraphs are formatted how I need. In the styles linked to request for production and interrogatories, I will use the style linked to “Answer” as the style for the following paragraph. In the “answer” style, I’ll use Interrogatory as the style for following paragraph.

The brackets around the tablename may be confusing Access. If you review the blog you will see I never use brackets for the table name. Other things to check. Is the Sequence control bound to the Sequence field in EvidenceDetail? Is MatterCode a text datatype?

Patient number format is >L-999/99999 where L is the first letter of the last name, next 3 digits is the count of number of patients with the same first letter of last name and the last 5 digits is the total count of all patients at the time the patient was entered in the system.

So, once you have those set up (following my instructions exactly), all you have to do to start a new sequence is type 1] for the first item in the list. For each other item, you just type n]. There’s no 2] or 3] involved at all — just 1] and n]. .

If you set the number of copies to print through the UI, you will printing the PDF copy x times which is different than printing the PDF x times, you need to trigger the ‘will print’ action 500 times.

Select if you want the page numbers of the current section to follow the numbering of the previous section. Using this option, the page numbers in the document or section update automatically when you add pages prior to it.

Note: These numbers are not automatically updated when you add, move, or remove rows. You can manually update the sequential numbering by selecting two numbers that are in the right sequence, and then dragging the fill handle to the end of the numbered range.

In the example I explained, I was using a list, but did it with un-linked text boxes using “continue from previous number” and “continue numbers across stories.” I’m guessing that there is no way to tell InDesign that even though there are 4 text boxes on the page, that there are two different lists? I’d probably have to just create two threaded stories for that scenario to work.

Hi, this is a great write up. I am very new to InDesign and i print onto a range of products and my first order with sequential numbering came up (serial numbers), I have the template made in illustrator and i also have the numbers added (00001 on all of the art work). A friend told me InDesign has a function for automatically incrasing the numbers by 1 for each art work. I have 105 pieces per template, is there a way to import the design and then sort the number (already text edible) and then save as a pdf then send to print?

The list of bullet characters is stored in the document, like paragraph and character styles. When you paste or load paragraph styles from another document, any bullet character used in those styles appears in the Bullets And Numbering dialog box, along with the other bullets defined for the current document.

Ordinarily I don’t like using the Variant type because it’s wasteful of memory and encourages sloppy programming. But the way this macro uses it — as a string when dealing with the PrivateProfileString, and as an integer when doing arithmetic — makes it necessary.

This works well unless you’re trying to add these fields to text boxes. In Word 2013 it seems like it may work for a text box or two, but then decides to start the numbering over. Is there a way to get this to work with multiple text boxes?

First, you can’t use an Autonumber as part of your identifier as it can’t be reset for each year. So you have to follow the instructions in my blog article to create a sequential number. The article describes exactly how you can do what you want. If you follow the article closely, you should be able to do what you need.

The expression: Nz(DMax(“[PONum]”,”tblPO”),0)+1 will check if a PONum already exists. If it doesn’t it returns a 1, if it does it returns the number incremented by 1. If the number exists, but is 0 it will return a 1. In my blog I advise that number should NOT be generated until the user is ready to save the record. Each circle will need to have a number. They will be numbered sequentially from 4000 – 4499.  This should work out to a total of 41.6 (42) pages. 4000 – 4011 on page 1, 4012 – 4023 on page 2, etc. etc.  

Denis frequently uses tables in his documents. In those tables, he has a need to add a series of sequential numbers to the cells in the first column. Denis wonders if there is a way to pick a starting number in a cell and then have Word http://thedailyrant.net the sequential numbers for all the cells under that starting number.

Note  If TAB and SHIFT+TAB do not work for changing the indents for outline numbering, you probably have the option Tabs and Backspace set left Indent turned off. To change this setting, from the Tools menu, choose Options. Select the Edit tab and check the option Tabs and backspace set left indent. As an alternative to turning this option on, you can instead use ALT+SHIFT+LEFT ARROW or RIGHT ARROW to increase or decrease outline numbering.

And no, you don’t use 000 in the NZ() function. If you want to DISPLAY at least 3 digits with leading zeros, then you do that in the Format function. That’s it! From now on, all you have to do to add SEQ field numbering is either type in your AutoCorrect text (1] and n]) or select the options from your Quick Parts list. If you find your numbering gets out of whack (remember, the numbers don’t update when you insert a new number between two existing numbers, or delete a number), select the sequence and press F9 (Hint: To update all fields for the entire document, press Ctrl+A then F9).

For example, to create a “Figure A” effect, enter the word “Figure” and a space before the numbering metacharacters (such as Figure ^#.^t). This adds the word “Figure” followed by a sequential number (^#), a period, and a tab (^t).

One other thought. It may not hurt to make option 1 a logical expresssion where it will update the number IF a number other than 0 already exists for it. This will prevent it from giving a new number if you go back, edit it and save it. I accomplished this by adding the following (roughly): If PONo=0 Then My.PONo…. (Expression and save command) Else (Save Command)

I had the same issue on how to use a sequence of numbers for any kind of usage and ginally today I found the solution. I will demonstrate my steps because it was more complicated (you can see the attachement). So, I had to create a solo page for printing in a plotter that should contain 4000 different QRcodes (1000X4) with their number underneath. In my project I use 20 qrcodes in one line to fit about 1m of plotter sticker paper vinyl.

I just want a random 3 digit number every time. They don’t even have to be in sequence, just generate a unique number every time I click the “generate/assign” button. The database right now is only about 200 members, but it is expected to grow over time.

Remember that formatting of your merge fields will be kept during imposition, which means that as the numbers grow larger, the more space they take up. I usually center the merge field to eliminate the risk of a number getting outside the border.

Despite its difficulties and drawbacks Word’s automatic numbering can be harnessed. The best method I have seen for doing that is with outline numbering as explained by MVP Shauna Kelly in: Outline numbering in Microsoft Word. This takes a good bit of work to get it set-up, but if you get it set up in a template it is well worth the effort and most of your automatic paragraph numbering issues will be resolved.

I’m trying to make a booklet on Legal-size paper in Publisher that folds from the top edge like a calendar instead of from the size. I’ve tried all kinds of Page Setup options, but I can’t seem to get the program to recognize what I’m trying to do.

Now Cir2 will be the circle immediately to the right of Cir 1, and will start at 4043.  The same circle on page 2 will be 4044, page 3 same circle will be 4045, etc.  Cir3 will start at 4084 and end at 4126, etc, etc, etc.

I already have automatic numbering set up (to change paragraph numbers automatically when paragraphs are moved within a document) but I would also like to have automatic lettering within the same document that is independent from the numbering. Example, paragraph 1 references Exhibit A, paragraph 2 references Exhibit B, so on and so forth. Currently using the above referenced method, the auto numbering lettering then follows as if the letters are a representation of the corresponding number (if that makes sense), ex: 1 B 3 C 5 D. Of course, it’s possible, and not very hard. All you have to do is to learn how to use variables. It sounds a bit tricky at the start, but it’s dead easy. At work I use it to print 100-2000 labels at a time with different names for trophies/medallions etc. You only need to know what XML files are and how to create one.

I get an error with this code but it is something I literally copied from a post in this thread where you said it works every time and simply replaced the names of fields and tables with those of my project.

Sometimes, however, the field codes seem lazy about updating. Don’t worry, they still work. (For instance, if you print your document, your field codes will update when you do Print Preview if you’ve set fields to update before printing.) But to set your mind at ease and get everything just right, there’s a quick fix.

For those who would prefer a standalone program with even more features, you can get the commercial version ($10) of Numbergen from MacroMonster. You’ll note that the sequence of numbers can be formatted for either CorelDRAW or Microsoft Word. If you do any numbering, you’ll find the commercial version well worth every penny.

Un cuadro de texto se cuenta como una línea si está alineado con el texto de la página. Si el texto de la página se ajusta alrededor del cuadro de texto, se cuentan las líneas de texto de la página. Las líneas de texto dentro de los cuadros de texto no se cuentan.

Hola aunque tiempo después la respuesta, he encontrado en la red un programa llamado Folex que te imprime correlativo, avance, retroceso, secuencial, consecutivo, gira en segmentos de 90 en 90 grados te imprime textos (marginales), etc. Es muy bueno y hay una versión gratuita. llega al sitio www.folex.com.mx para descargarlo.

Nota: Si edita un documento en un explorador web con Word Online, no puede iniciar la numeración de páginas más adelante en el documento. Los números de página en Word 2007 generalmente se insertan en el encabezado o en el pie de página. También hay muchas posibilidades de formato como las secciones y el estilo de número de página (números arábigos, romanos, etc.). També peta si té molts de gràfics. El que faig jo és convertir el ticket amb les imatges que pugui tenir a jpg, a 300 ppp. Després, el que vinculo al document de Indesign és el ticket a jpg. Així va molt bé encara que tinguis 100 pàgines per 12 tickets numerats a cada pàgina. Salut! ?

Existe la posibilidad de generar automáticamente una serie de números consecutivos dentro de Word (Similar a la numeración de páginas), pero que en una misma hoja tenga algo similar a la imagen, varios cuadros de texto y cada uno de ellos lleva una numeración que va en aumento, ¿es posible hacer eso con macros u algún otro método?

Empieza a añadir texto. Fecha, hora, lugar, evento, etc. Sé creativo. Puedes colocar cajas de colores detrás del texto y jugar con los tamaños de fuente. Lo normal es trabajar con no más de dos fuentes. No obstante, si finalmente trabajas con más fuentes, procura que presenten mucho contraste, no uses fuentes que se parezcan entre sí. Escoge una fuente con una amplia familia de pesos, es decir, con montones de variantes diferentes. La Helvetica, DIN o Univers pueden ser buenas elecciones.

Nota: Para ayudar a evitar el reemplazo de los datos existentes al arrastrar el controlador de relleno, asegúrese de que la casilla Mensaje de alerta antes de reemplazar celdas se encuentre activada. El reglamento de facturacion nos indica que “La numeración de las facturas dentro de cada serie será correlativa.” Pero no nos indica que correlacion exacta debe seguir dicha numeracion y es aqui donde empiezan las meteduras de pata a veces por exceso de creatividad otras veces con el fin de poder dejar marguen para incluir una factura fuera de fecha (Exactamente lo contrario que tratad e evitar el reglmento de facturacion).

Cuando redactamos un documento que ocupa varias páginas es muy habitual que vayamos creando distintos títulos y capítulos, en este artículo veremos cómo aprovecharnos de la función de “lista multinivel”.

Cada documento de InDesign puede contener hasta 9.999 páginas. De forma predeterminada, la primera página está situada a la derecha (anverso) con el número 1. Las páginas impares siempre aparecen a la derecha.

I urgently need a program that can auto number panels for a large drawing I have. I have a lisp program for auto numbering but we need each insertion of text to start with a P i.e. P1, P2, P3 etc etc.

I find that one of the most frustrating aspects of list numbering is “How do I start again with number 1?!!” Believe me, it is no small feat. MVP Margaret Aldis helps scale that peak by presenting us with several methods in her How to Restart Style-Based Numbering.

First, you need to enter the TransactionDate first. You can’t generate the Sequence until a TransactionDate is entered. Second, you are missing a line of code. The brackets around the tablename may be confusing Access. If you review the blog you will see I never use brackets for the table name. Other things to check. Is the Sequence control bound to the Sequence field in EvidenceDetail? Is MatterCode a text datatype?

To insert a new one, insert it from quick tables. But all tickets on any page will have the same number. Each page will have a different number, but all the tickets on that page will have the same number. That’s no good. The first page of the index in my InDesign sequential numbering (page “a”) begins on a left facing page in the document – but prints as a right facing page  (starts a new piece of paper).  This leaves a blank left-facing page before  Page A – and the rest of the index prints with odd pages on right and even pages on left.

These numbers are updated when you sort them with your data. The sequence may be interrupted if you add, move, or delete rows. You can manually update the numbering by selecting two numbers that are in the right sequence, and then dragging the fill handle to the end of the numbered range.

I took a screen shot of what is listed for the button and I took a screen shot of the text box Job No. I don’t know how to bound anything other than put the code behind the button and putting the Job_No in the code as you stated. I understand what you are saying, but I thought if I put the text box name Job No in the code behind the button then it would be bound to my table with the Job No field. Heeeelllllppppp!!!! Now, as mentioned in my blog, your sequential number should be stored in a separate field with a datatype of Long Integer. You can use your Artifact ID field where I was using Sequence, but make sure its the correct datatype. Now, when you want to DISPLAY the combination of Collection Point ID and Artifact ID you use an expression:

The Renumber/Refresh List toolbar command is used to renumber an existing numbered list or to refresh a list after editing. For example if item 3. is deleted from a list by editing then you can use this tool to refresh the list. You can also use the Renumber/Refresh command to number or renumber a selection of list paragraphs with any chosen starting number.

I set the field default value to “1” and I put in the code exactly as you gave it to me. Then I printed 3 copies to make a test. What was supposed to happen was that the first copy have a “1”, the second a “2”, the third a “3”. Instead all 3 copies had a “2”.

Looks like it works only for one line message, and does not work if my label contains 2 lines, e.g. the 1st line says Trade Show items, the 2nd line says carton number 1 of 30; 2 of 30. Also can I centre it vertically?

Place the insertion point in the paragraph and choose Restart Numbering from the context menu or choose Type > Bulleted And Numbered Lists > Restart Numbering. In normal lists, this command assigns the number 1 (or letter A) to a paragraph and makes it the first paragraph in a list. In multi-level lists, this command assigns the first lower-level number to a nested paragraph.

If you want to modify the starting number for the cells, right-click the number in the first cell and then choose Set Numbering Value from the resulting Context menu. Word displays the Set Numbering Value dialog box. (See Figure 1.)

Toggle field codes again and with your AutoText entries defined you can easily start new lists or continue with your next number in the sequence by typing the keywords newlist or next and invoking the AutoText entry using F3.

On my website below (link at bottom), I have all my photos watermarked for obvious reasons,this is done by a normal batch convert action using CS2,the gallery is actually a modified Photoshop “Simple” type of thing.

I know that I can select all of the clips and then move the play head to approx 1/10 of a second and split the clips. This works except I have to go through and manually delete the bits I don’t want which is tedious enough for a sequential numbering in coreldraw with 82 images but I am planning on longer projects, doing it manually would be a nightmare. Also I could probably re-order the images manually but I am sure that there must be an easier.

There are three issues common to all three scenarios. First, the sequential number is stored separately in the table as an Integer datatype (might need Long Integer). Second, the DMax function is used to  determine the last number used. Third, the number needs to be generated immediately prior to saving  the record.

I would like to set up a table of style numbers that starts at 1000 and continues on.  I don’t want to have to type each number in but would like for the number to automatically generate like a page number.  Is there a way to do this?

It sure is possible! Numbering and Section options are available in the Pages Panel menu. These options allow you to define what page starts a section and how it should be numbered. Insert a Current Page Number marker (Type>Insert Special Character>Markers>Current Page Number) in a text frame on a page or master page (recommended), select the first page of your section, open the Numbering and Section Options dialog, and enter 200 in the Start Page Numbering at: field. I am creating an image of 150mm x 100mm at 300dpi but photoshop keeps adding decimal points like 150.02 when i change the image from the original size, is it something I am doing wrong or a known bug?  You would expect that when you change an image to 150 x 100mm it would stay at that size and not be added to.

It can either be in the normal.dot template or in the template you’re using for the invoice. (It’s obviously better to use it in the invoice template so it works on any computer where the template is used.)

Of course, there are third-party solutions that are available for creating sequentially numbered labels. One that comes highly recommended by several WordTips subscribers is Bates Labels from Payne Consulting (http://www.payneconsulting.com). This free Word template allows you to easily create as many labels as you need for a specific purpose.

Unlike other Microsoft Office programs, Excel does not provide a button to number data automatically. But, you can easily add sequential numbers to rows of data by dragging the fill handle to fill a column with a series of numbers or by using the ROW function.

Start writing the text for the numbers. In this case, I typed ticket “nr.” Leave any numbers out. This will be filled in by the data file. As you can see, the text box wraps around the full tickets with crop marks.

Sequential numbering means that each printed piece will have a unique number printed on it within a range (for example 001-251). Sequential numbering may be used for such things as raffle tickets and membership cards.

Close, but not quite what I’m looking for. I need the numbering to advance one number automatically when I open the document; so a unique sequential number can be referenced in the future. My auditors don’t want missing numbers for the voucher that I create. Does this make sense to you?
