Note  The “Rog” in this example is the name of the Interrogatory numbering scheme. This name will keep this numbering scheme unique from any other schemes that may be running in the document. See Tip below for more information.

* Define the heading attributes, such as the font style. For example, I made the headings bold in the Basic Character Formats section, and I added a Space After value in the Indents and Spacing section.

With dragging this fill handle, you can also fill the column of cells with sequence numbers such as these formats: “000-001,000-002,000-003…” and the sequence numbers with prefix “KTE-0001, KTE-0002, KTE-0003… ”.

I am still trying to get discovery numbering for California Form Interrogatories; i.e., FORM INTERROGATORY NO. 1.1, FORM INTERROGATORY NO. 2.1, FORM INTERROGATORY NO. 2.2, FORM INTERROGATORY NO. 3.1, etc., down to FORM INTERROGATORY NO. 50.1, but I can’t get any field numbers started.

The general answer is to generate your sequence of numbers using a spreadsheet, and then merge them in to InDesign with Data Merge. See these two example threads from Peter Spier, “Trying to create hang tags, 6-up, 8.5 x 11 with vdp” and “is it possible to autonumber, 3 to a sheet? (1,2,3-4,5,6-7,8,9)”.

Tip: If your data source contains records that share the same information, and there are ten or fewer unique values in the column, you can filter by specific information. For example, if there are multiple records that list Australia as the country/region, you can filter on Australia.

You can combine Impose and VDP to create a multi-up Master. Use the same imposition for your variable data. If you’re creative enough, you can also make double-sided variable printing on one pass (provided the paper allows for duplex printing on your machine)

Your raffle might be subject to gaming commission or tax laws. Check with your municipality, state or province, and federal governments to make sure your raffle is legal. These government departments aren’t just enforcers. They are often great resources on how to run a successful fund raising raffle. Raffles are fun! Getting in trouble with the law or tax man is not.

I’m trying to make a booklet on Legal-size paper in Publisher that folds from the top edge like a calendar instead of from the size. I’ve tried all kinds of Page Setup options, but I can’t seem to get the program to recognize what I’m trying to do.

If you are thinking of using sequential numbering, please give our printing experts a call for helpful advice on how to best set up your artwork. We offer ready to use templates for the most common types of forms including invoice templates, statement templates, work order templates and purchase order templates. Just upload your logo and contact information and let us know how you would like to number your forms.

Once you’ve gotten through all that (and, yes, I know, that was a lot of work) you can look forward to being able to simply type four letters and have Word automagically offer to do the rest of the typing for you:

If you start to type in what appears to be a numbered list, Word formats your manually typed “numbers” to an automatic numbered list. The main benefit of this option is that you do not need to click any button to start numbering and you can choose your numbering style as well. For example, if you type “(a) some text” and press Enter, it starts numbering using the “(a)” format.

If you set the number of copies to print through the UI, you http://mywebspider.com printing the PDF copy x times which is different than printing the PDF x times, you need to trigger the ‘will print’ action 500 times.

if you prefer they just type in the number, you can parse out the number into the Collection Point and Sequence components, then use a DLookup to return the RecordID which can be used to find the record. Like I said, the user never sees the autonumber ID, its meaningless to them.

As you’ve seen, the identifier is built using other data besides the sequence number. Since this other data is a part of the record, you don’t want to store this identifier since that means storing the same data twice. That’s why we use an expression to display the identifier rather than store it.

You probably know about Word’s mail merge feature, and you might even use it to print labels or other documents, where some of the information changes (such as form letters). You can use the same feature with Publisher. Although you might not think of Publisher as an Office app, it comes with several different versions of Office. In this article, I’ll show you how to print sequentially numbered tickets using Publisher and Excel. This article provides instructions for Publisher 2007, 2010, and 2013.

After years in the graphic design and art industry, there’s one thing that I can’t understand: why designers try to get along without Adobe InDesign. I’ve been using this program for many years, and it’s helped me work efficiently and productively. I’ve created this website to show everyone that InDesign is a program that you can and should learn, and the best program for layout and desktop publishing. If you’re interested, check out my book on creating an ePub with InDesign. It’s got all you need to know in order to take your eBook from the final draft to an interesting and well-formatted ePub book.

One other thought. It may not hurt to make option 1 a logical expresssion where it will update the number IF a number other than 0 already exists for it. This will prevent it from giving a new number if you go back, edit it and save it. I accomplished this by adding the following (roughly): If PONo=0 Then My.PONo…. (Expression and save command) Else (Save Command)

Use the Bullet or Number Position section of the New Paragraph Style dialog box to change the indent spacing. For example, to create a hanging indent, type 2p for Left Indent and ‑2p for First Line Indent.

In a perfect world, cut and stack is largely controlled by a commercial printer’s RIP imposition software such as EFI Fiery or AGFA Apogee. However, I am aware that this software is out of reach of many people and do appreciate the lower tech ways of accomplishing the same task.

An InDesign document can only have one chapter, and these chapters are typically combined in an InDesign book. To insert a chapter number, create a text frame where you want the chapter number to appear on either a document or master page. Click on the “Type” menu, then “Text Variables,” “Insert Text Variable” and then “Chapter Number.” Update the chapter number if necessary to keep your chapter numbers consecutive by clicking on “Numbering & Section Options” in the Layout menu.

3. In the expanded dialog box, at the lower left panel, create your own sequential numbers, at the same time, you can preview the result of your customized sequence in the lower right list box, see screenshot:

This is it. In my queries and reports I can rank students according to their performance. How then can I add a number to show the rank? The top student can be seen but I’d like to put a column showing the Number 1… last.

You’ll need to merge two documents: the Publisher document, or ticket, and an Excel workbook that contains the numbers you want to use to number those tickets. Please don’t let the term mail merge intimidate you. Merging a Publisher document to generate sequential numbers is easy.
I have a large job for a client who uses antique computers. They are so old that he can’t run Lightroom. As a workaround, I posted the images I wanted him to look at on SmugMug and we had a disaster. Their sequencing on screen does not match my “as shot” sorting on my Lightroom (4). Is there a way I can print sequential serial numbers/ids on my images before I upload them to SmugMug so we are always talking about the same image?
