El reglamento de facturacion nos indica que “La numeración de las facturas dentro de cada serie será correlativa.” Pero no nos indica que correlacion exacta debe seguir dicha numeracion y es aqui donde empiezan las meteduras de pata a veces por exceso de creatividad otras veces con el fin de poder dejar marguen para incluir una factura fuera de fecha (Exactamente lo contrario que tratad e evitar el reglmento de facturacion).

Los rótulos continuos numeran figuras, tablas y otros elementos de un documento de forma consecutiva. Para garantizar que las cifras, tablas o elementos de ese tipo estén numerados de forma consecutiva, defina una lista para el elemento y, a continuación, cree un estilo de párrafo que incluya la definición de la lista. También puede añadir palabras descriptivas como, por ejemplo, “Figura” o “Tabla”, al esquema de numeración del estilo de párrafo.

Incrementar el Medianil entre ellas a entre 5 y 10 mm ayudará a mantener las columnas de texto definidas y separadas. Haz click en OK.

En la pestaña “Preimpresión” tienes la opción de activar “Límite Sangrado”. Aún si en el documento no está activada dicha opción, puedes activarla al crear el PDF, pero recuerda que los objetos deben sobresalir de la página. Activar “Límite Sangrado” no aumenta el tamaño de los objetos, eso debe hacerse al crear el diseño. Otra opción que suele ser muy útil es activar “Marcas de corte” para indicar los límites de nuestro diseño. Por eso es importante que el tamaño de la página sea el tamaño verdadero.

NIVEL CADENA NUMERABLE. Este nivel supone un dominio notable de la sucesión numérica. El niño es capaz, comenzando desde cualquier número, de contar un número determinado de eslabones y detenerse en el número que corresponda. El niño que, por ejemplo, es capaz de contar 8 números a partir del 3 y decir en qué número ha terminado, ha alcanzado este nivel. Desde este dominio, se afrontan con bastantes garantías la realización de las operaciones básicas del cálculo. También se ha de tener presente que este escalón supone un salto en dificultad muy apreciable y que, por ello, en el caso de los niños con dificultades, debe conllevar un proceso de aprendizaje muy reforzado y con ayudas de todo tipo.

Remember that you must update the values in the sheet if you want to continue the numbering series with the next batch of tickets. I am having trouble with this procedure. My situation is almost identical to example #2. I want to populate RecordNumber on my form with a date number like “130001, 130002, etc.” where “13” is the year based on a date automatically generated in the OpenDate field in tblLogRecords. OpenDate is a date/time type field that has a default value of the date the record is created and is not editable. I have added a field called Sequence to tblLogRecords and it is a Number, Long Integer type. I also created a bound control for Sequence on my form. I have a completely separate autonumber field as the PK.

In the example I explained, I was using a list, but did it with un-linked text boxes using “continue from previous number” and “continue numbers across stories.” I’m guessing that there is no way to tell InDesign that even though there are 4 text boxes on the page, that there are two different lists? I’d probably have to just create two threaded stories for that scenario to work.

This does not appear to be a sequential numbering issue. Assigning a sequential number to a record is different from ranking the result set. I would look at a Running Sum to provide a numerical ranking to a result set.

Thanks for the quick reply, I think I’m a little confused by the Display aspect of this. Artifact ID is a primary key to the table I am working in and I need it to have a unique identifier that other people can search for. The previously adopted naming convention for this ID is that which I mentioned before, Collection Point ID plus a period and then a sequential number restarting at each new Collection Point ID i.e 2-1050.1, 2-1050.2, 2-1060.1 and so on. So I think I actually need to save this in the Artifact ID field. I realize this might be slightly redundant but I’m not sure how the display would work as far as searching for specific Artifact IDs in the future.

By default, page and chapter numbers in a book are numbered consecutively. Using Numbering & Section Options, you can restart page numbering at a specified page, add prefixes to page numbers, and change the numbering style of both pages and chapters.

You cannot use the Type tool to select the bullets or numbers in a list. Instead, edit their formatting and indent spacing using the Bullets And Numbering dialog box, the Paragraph panel, or the Bullets And Numbering section of the Paragraph Styles dialog box (if the bullets or numbers are part a style).

The application requires sequence values to be sorted by another field. The NEXT VALUE FOR function can apply the OVER clause to the function call. The OVER clause guarantees that the values returned are generated in the order of the OVER clause’s ORDER BY clause.

OK I found the ControlSource property but it is on the Job No text box, do I enter the code there or am I entering my code on the button I created to save and get new number? If I put it behind the button, when I open the form it goes to the first record so I go to the last record and hit save get new number button and it gives me the number 1……Is it because when I open the form it goes to the first record and not a new record????

You could copy the inline-numbered paragraph, update all the values, and the codes would evaluate based on the preceding paragraph. In other words, the new paragraph’s first field code would update to 8, the second to 9, and so on. But you can reset a code and thereby subsequent codes using a special switch as follows:

Open your Layers window. If it is not already open, open it by going to (Window > Layers). Rename the layer with the placed pdf ‘Background’ and then create a new layer and name it ‘Numbering’. Lock the ‘Background’ layer. Then select the ‘Numbering’ Layer.

I could not translate either of the options’ instructions into anything that worked. I find they lack clarity and it is difficult to understand what you are supposed to do in each step of the process.

If you need to create invoices for your business, you can use one of the many invoice templates found on Office.com. Although these templates are a great starting point, they won’t automatically generate unique invoice numbers—you’ll need a macro for that.

For years, I’ve applied an autonumbered style to the first cell I want to be sequentially numbered. When I add rows, the cells immediately below continue that same numbered style whether I add them by tabbing from the end of the last row or by using the commands to inserts rows above or below. Because the numbering is part of a style, it can continue from one table to another, but it can always be restarted. I can even skip a row by changing the style for the particular cell or by just toggling off the numbering. I also use it to show two levels of numbering in a single cell by creating two autonumbered styles in a hierarchy that works just like Heading 1 and Heading 2.

In a legal document, it’s rare for every paragraph in the document to be numbered. Usually, you change between numbered paragraphs and non-numbered (plain) paragraphs of text. When Word sees you switching between these types of formats, it usually tries to help by restarting your numbered list back at “1” (or the first value of your list, such as “A”). There are a few different ways to make the number follow the last number of your paragraphs. In Word, this is called Continue from Previous List.

Scott, I was able to try this as I assumed that is what I needed to do. It does not work. First, the current macro for that button is a Save Record, Close Window operation. How could I keep this and also add Code? If I just add a new button to the form and under the On Click Event put the code you suggested, I get a compile error of “method or data member not found” and ” .txtPROJECT” is highlighted. The actual field is “PROJECT ID#” and it is a long integer number. Entry I have is: Private Sub Command88_Click()

Define a new list for each type of item you want to number—step-by-step instructions, tables, sequential numbering in coreldraw figures, for example. By defining multiple lists, you can interrupt one list with another and maintain number sequences in each list.

Despite its difficulties and drawbacks Word’s automatic numbering can be harnessed. The best method I have seen for doing that is with outline numbering as explained by MVP Shauna Kelly in: Outline numbering in Microsoft Word. This takes a good bit of work to get it set-up, but if you get it set up in a template it is well worth the effort and most of your automatic paragraph numbering issues will be resolved.

Warning  You can change the tab or remove it individually in each paragraph. BUT, each time you make a customization to your numbering scheme, the .25″ tab will reappear in all the paragraphs that are a part of the list. This behavior occurs whether the numbering is tied to styles or not.

There are many types of machines printers used to number Carbonless forms. One style is a letter press, another is a pneumatic numbering head which uses air pressure do drive a numbering head and crash imprint the number on the top sheet transferring the number to the other sheets. For example, if you were numbering a 2 part carbonless form you would have a black or red number on the top sheet and a crashed number on the second sheet. The image on the second sheet would appear black no matter what ink was on the top sheet as the carbonless paper transfers the image in black.

With this expression we check only for records that are in the same year as the Inquiry date to increment the sequence. Again, the NZ function will automatically restart the sequence with each year. Cleary, though, we cannot generate this number until the InquiryDate has been entered. Is this value is a user entry, then you may want to check that it’s filled in before generating the number. Something like:

Remember, whether the number is displayed on the page or not, it is counted in the document. Simply removing a page number marker from a page isn’t going to change how that page is counted. To change the counting of pages you will need to use Numbering & Section Options.

See attached. I’ve replaced your manual numbering with Word’s Heading Styles using multi-level list numbering. Adding a new row to the table will result in that row’s numbering incrementing. Changing the heading level will re-set the numbering accordingly.

Tip  You can always reset your numbering formats back to Word’s defaults by clicking on the Reset button in the Bullets and Numbering dialog box. You will have to reset http://ringringpromotions.org numbering scheme individually.

Warning (CK Note) To share a numbering scheme with another person or have it work for you over a long period of time or on a different computer, your numbering must be combined with styles (as set forth below). Failure to do this can result in what has been called “spaghetti numbering” and corrupted documents. 

Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think Illustrator is meant for that sort of thing. But, as someone who likes to use Illustrator all the time, it’s good to see if we can find a solution in it!

In my headings, I prefer using an em space instead of a tab, so I deleted ^t and chose Insert Special Character > Em Space from the flyout menu to the right of the Number field. ^#.^m means the current level number (1) will be followed by a period, which will be followed by an em space.

This macro will only run on one computer. For another computer will need a new key. It is impossible to transfer the old key to another PC. For activation will be used the data of your computer’s configuration. If you have a number of activations more than 1 you can leave them for future activations or use for other computers. If the limit of activations is ended you need to purchase this macro again. Macro updates are free (usually).

Roy’s little movie is very helpful. I have used Xenetech rotaries for years, and their software will do all of this, but only for rotaries. Of course, the laser is slowly taking over most of this type of work because it is so fast. One problem that I have is that I have never used spreadsheet programs much (not since the early 80’s! Remember Visi-calc?). Is there another way to easily create the data file mentioned without using spreadsheet software?

Click the small square handle on the bottom right corner of the selected cell(s), and then drag down the column to select the range of cells in which you want to insert the number sequence. When you release the mouse button, Excel automatically inserts a number in each cell.

You could stop there and just copy those little bits of text all through your document. But no, we want to make this really, really easy! So we’re going to set up some AutoText entries. What that’s going to do for you (if you’re using Microsoft Word 2010 or above — if you use version 2007, see below for some caveats) is allow you to type the first four letters of your SEQ name and have Word offer to complete the phrase for you, complete with the incrementing number courtesy of the sequence field code we set up earlier.

A friend told me InDesign has a function for automatically incrasing the numbers by 1 for each art work. I have 105 pieces per template, is there a way to import the design and then sort the number (already text edible) and then save as a pdf then send to print?

The Renumber/Refresh List toolbar command is used to renumber an existing numbered list or to refresh a list after editing. For example if item 3. is deleted from a list by editing then you can use this tool to refresh the list. You can also use the Renumber/Refresh command to number or renumber a selection of list paragraphs with any chosen starting number.

Hi Scott, I had a question regarding the sequential numbering Apex example…I am looking to automatically restart the sequence every month, which is not a problem using your example (i.e. changing the year to month in the expression). However, I would also like to add in a condition for year, so that the sequence restarts for each month of each year (i.e. my problem is for example that Feb 2011 last sequence number is 5, and then in Feb 2012 this becomes 6, where I would like it to be 1). Please Note: This article is written for users of the following Microsoft Word versions: 2007, 2010, and 2013. The process described in this tip works best if you have a single list in your document. Note that the sequence field starts at the beginning of the document and numbers through the whole document, based on the identifier you use. If you are going to have multiple lists in your document, then you can add a second AutoText entry to help with this. The only difference in the above steps is that the SEQ field you define would look like this:

Word comes with some default Outline Numbering schemes that already have Styles attached but that doesn’t mean you are only limited to those styles or those schemes. For more information on styles, see the chapter on Styles.

This requires no pre-knowledge of a primary key and only assumes that when you load the form initially, it is already sorted. Any records newly inserted will get the next bigger number. However, if you requery and it causes the newly inserted rows to be re-sorted, they will be now given a new number that relates to their actual position within the set, which can be either good or bad, depending on your specific requirements.

When you generate a bar code, you can change many of the industry-standard properties to improve the ease with which it can be read by a scanner. The bar code must be readable the first time it is passed under a scanner.

I have the page numbering macro. It works on new files; however, it doesn’t work on specific saved files. What could be wrong with those files? Is there any way to enable the page numbering macro in those files?

The application requires sequence values to be sorted by another field. The NEXT VALUE FOR function can apply the OVER clause to the function call. The OVER clause guarantees that the values returned are generated in the order of the OVER clause’s ORDER BY clause.

I’ve managed to edit one using Find and Replace with an { SEQ } field as the replacement to give sequential numbering. This started from 1 which is fine. Angie, have tried your method; however, I encountered what I surmised was a limit on the amount of characters allowed in that “Enter formatting for number” box: for instance, I can only type as far as “Request for Productio” (excluding quotations)- additional text and codes delete and default back to the incomplete phrase “Request for Productio”. Seems to have a default of 26 characters – anything exceeding that is deleted. The phrase “Request for Admission” completes, but am unable to include anything after that phrase of 26 characters. Not sure why that is, but that’s what I run into when I attempt using the multi-list option.

As for that error, you need to find what line of code is generating it. If the error message has a Debug choice use it to see what line of code. If not, you need to step through the code to see where it errors out.

I know that PrintShopMail will do it, but I was wandering if there was a less expensive solution out there so that I could get numbered tickets (usually 4-up) right off the Xerox. I just want to avoid having to go the the Windmill after trimming and doing it the old fashion way. There is a tiny little copy shop here in town that is doing it, and am willing to bet that they are not using PrintShopMail, but I’m also not going to ask them to share their methods with a competitor. You have a field in your table named sequence? But what is the controlsource of sequence control on the form? It sounds like you didn’t assign that. Also, if this is going to be your transactionID, you shouldn’t have a field in your table as you will be using the expression to display it. Use an AutoNumber for you PK.

An easier way is to setup the table in Excel and use the Excel features to create sequential numbering. The cells making up the whole table can then be selected and copied into a Word document using CTRL/C and CTRL/V which will create a table in Word. Column widths and borders can be set up in Excel and cells can be filled in before copying to the Word document.

After the { SEQ € \r68}, insert just the { SEQ € } fields where you need them for the sequential numbering. If you copy and paste one of these fields, you’ll probably need to select in and press F9 to update it, or you could press Ctrl-A, F9 to update all fields in the document – useful if you’ve added/deleted one in an existing sequence or if you’re adding multiple such fields.

When you apply a list using the buttons, you are not applying a style.  If you drop down the styles list, does it show “List Number” as the style in use? You can change the numbers in the list by restarting the sequence or by specifying a new start number. You can change the list’s style. You can do anything to this list that you can do to a normal numbered list because it is a numbered list, with one exception: the list, while easy to format, is fixed. If you delete an item, the list updates accordingly, but I haven’t found a way to add numbers.

In order to insert the data field, select the little arrowed cursor from the Print Merge Flyout menu, and click on Cir 1, then insert that in your first circle.  With the regular pointer tool, select the text that says and adjust its attributes as you would any other text.  It owuld be easier to add all 12 data fields, then adjust them all at the same time.

Thanks for the head start on this, it got me part the way through my problem but I found that when I had 3 figures in a row then a map, the next figure would jump back to #.1 again. Because I had figures, maps and tables that needed to be numbered I used the ‘levels’ to differentiate between them as you suggested, but found if you create a new number list for each entry ie. number list for maps, and number list for tables etc then they don’t conflict. thanks for the start off though. no where else pointed it out as clearly as this. The problem with the previous example is that it’s OK since you only need it in one place but if you will have several places where it is used, you now have to qualify the instance of VBA.Collection to each place – not insurmountable but too easy to get messy and hairy very fast.

This does not appear to be a sequential numbering issue. Assigning a sequential number to a record is different from ranking the result set. I would look at a Running Sum to provide a numerical ranking to a result set.

Cuando coloca habitaciones, puertas y ventanas en un proyecto, puede usar etiquetas que numeren de forma secuencial los elementos. No puede utilizar la herramienta Texto para seleccionar las viñetas o los números de una lista. En su lugar, edite el formato y el espaciado de sangría mediante el cuadro de diálogo Viñetas y numeración, el panel Párrafo o la sección Viñetas y numeración del cuadro de diálogo Estilos de párrafo (si las viñetas o los números forman parte de un estilo).

What if I need to create 200 vouchers and each has a unique code not in any sort of numeric or alphabetical order. The codes are listed in excel under one column. Is there a way to link the text frame on a master page where the codes should be placed to the excel document to assign one code per voucher?

That said, Illustrator has its own version of Data Merge… I think it is called “variables”… it differs in that it works with XML files rather than TXT… Illustrator is not my field of expertise so anyone that can add to this, feel free.

The fastest way to get numbers into your document is to click the Numbering button on the Formatting toolbar. This button gives you either Word’s default numbering scheme in your document (1, 2, 3) or the last numbering scheme used during this session of Word. Word’s default numbers are Arabic numerals followed by a period.

Here, the field code SEQ is the winning choice. SEQ is a sequence numbering code often used for things like figures or illustrations (think “Figure 1”). What makes it an ideal choice here is the ability to name each sequence separately. In other words, we can define one numbering sequence for interrogatories, another one for requests for production, and a third one for requests for admission. it can be done with almost any software that has print merge function (we use corel draw a lot for such jobs). you create a excel file with numbers, and merge them into design. once you learn it it is easy and fast.

I have to print a 1 page pdf document. But I want there to be on top of the page a sequential number that would appear when I print for example 500 copies. There would be 001 on the first, 002 on the second, etc…

I have a table named Artifact Catalog in which there is a field Collection Point ID and a field Artifact ID. On the form I have created the user will input the Collection Point ID, for example: 2-1050. I need to find a way to have this Collection Point ID automatically generate a corresponding Artifact ID, i.e when you click the save button the first record under Artifact ID becomes: 2-1050.1 and the second becomes 2-1050.2 and so on.

Yes, I have used this system in a multi-user setting. As noted, the key is to commit the record immediately after generating the sequence. However, if the application is one where there is very heavy transaction processing. In other words dozens of users creating records simultaneously, you might want to guard further against duplication. At the speeds computers process, it is not impossible that multiple users will grab the max value before it can be incremented and saved.

To recap. The NZ(DMax(etc.) will take the highest value of the PONum field in tblPO and increment it. You then have to store that value somewhere. If you assign it to a control on a form, that control has to have a ControlSource of the filed in the table. Also, you need to save the record before it gets to the table.

We use the auto page numbering trick here, the trick is to do it as spreads. You just make your pages the same size as the ticket with crops and bleeds. Then set up the shell on the master page and place your auto page number where you want your numbers. Each pages is the next number. You can also have two sets of numbers for perforated ticket. You then can use the page start options to add to the numbers and keep the same number sequential numbering total numbers. For example you would do a new page start after number 99. 0001 to 0099 so it doesn’t add two “0’s” to the front of 100 and you get 00100 when you want 0100. Works great for small quantities, we have done up to 1000+ tickets and once you do it once or twice it is a snap to set up. To avoid having to do 1000 pages just send the tickets in groups. Usually between 25 to 100 at a time works good depending on artwork file size. Just save each time before sending to printer and name the file with what the tickets are. Like “MyTickets-0001-0100.Indd”. Makes it easier to go back if you have a problem. You can even do two rolls of tickets if your using 12 x 18 sheets by flipping the sheet and doing one row along the top and one along the bottom on reverse side. That is if your ticket is single Sided. Two sided tickets are a bit trickier. 🙂
