A common practice for increasing revenue from ticket sales is to offer bulk sales of tickets, e.g., $10 per single ticket or $25 for three tickets, although this practice is illegal in some countries. In many places raffles are only legal for registered nonprofits.[citation needed] Players tend to spend more money on bulk tickets believing they have a much better chance of winning. Since the tickets cost little to produce, and the prize expense has been set, the number of tickets sold creates little or no additional cost for the raffle holders.

I am very new to InDesign and i print onto a range of products and my first order with sequential numbering came up (serial numbers), I have the template made in illustrator and i also have the numbers added (00001 on all of the art work). I have 105 pieces per template, is there a way to import the design and then sort the number (already text edible) and then save as a pdf then send to print?

The tombola booth is commonly used as a fund raising event for local fetes.

I use reverse NCR, you could use straight, but you would have to select face down as an option. My only problem with numbering NCR has been that I can’t pull a custom NCR ( White 20#,Canary 20#, 150 Tag) from 3 different trays AND number it at the same time. In that case I print it with the numbers in 3 separate identical runs. I then hand collate it afterwards This problem is a software limitation(FreeFlow). You can’t specify that every nth page gets pulled from tray X. The other option availabe to me is to not number on the Xerox but print it collating it from separate trays.(Tray 1age 1, Exception pages defined to pull paper from the other trays.)

Luckily you can number raffle tickets or any other document or form with a desktop publishing software program you may already own like Microsoft Word, Publisher, Adobe Indesign or CorelDraw or any desktop publishing software that has a mail merge function.  Then all that is needed is a program that can create the mail merge file you need to number your tickets like starting number, ending number, prefix and so on. And for that program we suggest Number-Pro.

EPHEMERA IS THE PLURAL FORM OF THE GREEK WORD EPHEMERON (EPI = ON, ABOUT, ROUND; HEMERA = DAY). LITERALLY, IT REFERS TO SOMETHING THAT LASTS THROUGH THE DAY, OR, AS MAURICE RICKARDS PROPOSED, THE MINOR TRANSIENT DOCUMENTS OF EVERYDAY LIFE, ALTHOUGH NOT EVERY ITEM OF EPHEMERA CAN BE REGARDED AS TRANSIENT OR EVEN MINOR. COLLECTIVELY THE MANY ENTRIES IN THIS FORMIDABLE NEW REFERENCE WORK PROVIDE A BETTER DEFINITION OF EPHEMERA, SINCE THEY INCLUDE MANUSCRIPT AND PRINTED MATTER (SPORTS PROGRAMS, ENVELOPES, VISITING CARDS, BALLOTS), RECORDS OF THE PAST AND PRESENT (NEWSPAPERS, CIGARETTE CARDS, SEED PACKETS, RATION PAPERS), ITEMS DESIGNED TO BE THROWN AWAY (BUS TICKETS, PAPER BAGS, FRUIT LABELS), AND TO BE KEPT (BOOKMARKS, PLAYING CARDS, BOARD GAMES).

We use the auto page numbering trick here, the trick is to do it as spreads. You just make your pages the same size as the ticket with crops and bleeds. Then set up the shell on the master page and place your auto page number where you want your numbers. Each pages is the next number. You can also have two sets of numbers for perforated ticket. You then can use the page start options to add to the numbers and keep the same number of total numbers. For example you would do a new page start after number 99. 0001 to 0099 so it doesn’t add two “0’s” to the front of 100 and you get 00100 when you want 0100. Works great for small quantities, we have done up to 1000+ tickets and once you do it once or twice it is a snap to set up. To avoid having to do 1000 pages just send the tickets in groups. Usually between 25 to 100 at a time works good depending on artwork file size. Just save each time before sending to printer and name the file with what the tickets are. Like “MyTickets-0001-0100.Indd”. Makes it easier to go back if you have a problem. You can even do two rolls of tickets if your using 12 x 18 sheets by flipping the sheet and doing one row along the top and one along the bottom on reverse side. That is if your ticket is single Sided. Two sided tickets are a bit trickier. 🙂

Microsoft Publisher, the desktop publishing component of the Professional version of the Office Suite, can perform many time-saving tasks for busy business owners, including layout and design work. Create your own tickets, including the vital sequential ordering needed for raffles or attendance tracking, using Publisher’s page numbering. With a few tricky manipulations of the page number process, you can start running the numbers in an entirely new fashion.

In 1990, NCR introduced the System 3000, a seven-level family of computers based on Intel’s 386 and 486 CPUs. The majority of the System 3000 range utilised IBM’s Micro Channel architecture rather than the more prevalent ISA architecture, and utilised SCSI peripherals as well as the more popular parallel and serial port interfaces, resulting in a premium product with premium pricing. The 3600, through NCR subsidiary Applied Digital Data Systems supported both the Pick Operating System and Prime Information.[15]

Thank you again for your assistance. I took care of the text boxes and everything works quite well. I assume it had something to do with the text boxes. Anyway, the document is now a thing of beauty. Thank you.

Hi, this is a great write up. I am very new to InDesign and i print onto a range of products and my first order with sequential numbering came up (serial numbers), I have the template made in illustrator and i also have the numbers added (00001 on all of the art work). A friend told me InDesign has a function for automatically incrasing the numbers by 1 for each art work. I have 105 pieces per template, is there a way to import the design and then sort the number (already text edible) and then save as a pdf then send to print?

We also want to setup right away the crop marks for the tickets. Create another layer and call it “crop marks & score marks.” We will place the crop marks and the score line onto this layer. Start placing crop marks that you create with the Pen Tool (P) around the ticket.

As an example, assume you were planning on selling your 500 tickets (each with 2 sets of numbers) for $5. It is much raffle tickets with large numbers to order 1000 tickets (each with 1 number set) instead. Instead of selling the tickets for $5 each, sell them 2 for $5 (you’ll raise exactly the same amount of money). 1000 standard raffle tickets will cost you less than half the price of 500 “2 number random tickets”.

A k-combination with repetitions, or k-multicombination, or multisubset of size k from a set S is given by a sequence of k not necessarily distinct elements of S, where order is not taken into account: two sequences define the same multiset if one can be obtained from the other by permuting the terms. In other words, the number of ways to sample k elements from a set of n elements allowing for duplicates (i.e., with replacement) but disregarding different orderings (e.g. {2,1,2} = {1,2,2}). Associate an index to each element of S and think of the elements of S as types of objects, then we can let x i {\displaystyle x_{i}} denote the number of elements of type i in a multisubset. The number of multisubsets of size k is then the number of nonnegative integer solutions of the Diophantine equation:[9]

Hi – are you creating your own tickets using the instructions on this page? If so, you can of course change the font and everything else in your Word document. If you are using the Raffle Ticket Creator app (app.raffleticketcreator.com) then you can’t change the font size … you’ll just need to tinker with the exact words that you are including in order to get them to fit on the page. Hope that helps!

Click on the Help menu from an open Word document. The Help menu is usually listed in the very top toolbar and is the listing farthest to the right. When you left click on the Help icon, a drop-down menu will ask you to choose the type of help you are looking for.

Click Preview & Print to review your design. To make adjustments, just click the Customize button to go back to the Customize screen. When your design is complete, just click the Print button to create the PDF file. Open the file, and your tickets are ready to be printed.

For this single position number there is an article at InDesignSecrets.com using a page number rather than Data Merge. (Most of my numbering is “cut stack” jobs where there are multiple up, printed than cut which prohibits the page number technique; I use multi column data sources)

Thanks I have my word ticket page set up with the code you gave me. Thank you in advance. I need to set up the mail merge so I can print blocks of tickets off as I need them. How do I go about setting this up? Do I have to have a stub, ticket format like the original ticket format?

NCR’s R&D activity is split between its three major centers in Atlanta (retail); Dundee, Scotland (financial industry); and Waterloo, Ontario. It also has R&D centers in Beijing; Cebu, Philippines; Belgrade, Serbia; and Puducherry and Hyderabad, India.[31] NCR also has manufacturing facilities in Beijing, Budapest, and the Indian territory of Puducherry, which is a regional manufacturing and export hub.

When you are ready to print, you will need to either merge the data to a new document or straight to your printer. I recommend merging to a new document so you can preview the entire thing before printing. The icons look like (Merge to Document, Merge to Printer)

To insert your ticket numbers, first click the area where you want the number to go. Then, click on Insert Merge Fields. A Dialog will pop up and “Numbers” should be selected. Click OK. You should see “<>” inserted into your document. You can insert the <> anywhere you want on the ticket and as many times as you wish.

The Montgomery County Historical Society and NCR Corporation joined in 1998 into a partnership committed to preserving the historic and voluminous NCR Archive. In 1999, NCR moved an estimated three million items from NCR’s Building 28 into the Historical Society’s Research Center.

5. Drag the number, which Publisher defaults to “1,” into place on the ticket. To change the sequence, such as to start with “100” instead of “1,” click the “Page Number” button again and choose “Format Page Numbers.” Click the “Start this section with” radio button and type the new number into the field. Click the “OK” button to have Publisher update the ticket number.

It depends what the design is for the tickets. But if you set up primary text frames, linked for the area for the numbers, you can create a numbered list with the numbering format you want. Then, just pour in a whole load of paragraph returns that have that numbered list applied. And make sure each numbered paragraph is set to start in the next column.

which can be written using factorials as n ! k ! ( n − k ) ! {\displaystyle \textstyle {\frac {n!}{k!(n-k)!}}} whenever k ≤ n {\displaystyle k\leq n} , and which is zero when k > n {\displaystyle k>n} . The set of all k-combinations of a set S is often denoted by ( S k ) {\displaystyle \textstyle {\binom {S}{k}}} .

Combinations refer to the combination of n things taken k at a time without repetition. To refer to combinations in which repetition is allowed, the terms k-selection,[1] k-multiset,[2] or k-combination with repetition are often used.[3] If, in the above example, it were possible to have two of any one kind of fruit there would be 3 more 2-selections: one with two apples, one with two oranges, and one with two pears.

In order to ensure your files are print-ready, we recommend that you upload them in PDF format. When you generate a print-ready PDF, your computer will use the settings in Adobe Acrobat Distiller or any other PDF generating programs you may use. Please make sure that these are set properly before generating your PDF file.

Summary: If you need to include serial numbers in your printed matter (labels, letters, documents, etc.), the best way is through the use of Word’s mail-merge capabilities. This tip outlines how you can use this capability to get just the serial numbers you need. (This tip works with Microsoft Word 97, Word 2000, Word 2002, Word 2003, and Word 2007.)

Give your brand, your sponsors brand or your advertising a boost with custom Tickets from Admit One Products. You’ll get maximum exposure when your organization’s logo or slogan is displayed on the front or back of your ticket as customers purchase and hold their tickets. Often tickets are kept as keepsakes and mementos for years to come and end up in scrap books to remember the great time they had at an event.

In 1982, NCR became involved in open systems architecture. Its first such system was the UNIX-powered TOWER 16/32, the success of which (approximately 100,000 were sold) established NCR as a pioneer in bringing industry standards and open systems architecture to the computer market. These 5000-series systems were based on Motorola 68k CPUs and supported NCR’s proprietary transaction processing system TMX, which was mainly used by financial institutions. This product line also saw the first time NCR had offered its products through other than its own direct sales channels since the early 1900s. Formally added to its company structure in March 1984, NCR’s OEM System’s Division spearheaded the design, sales revenue and market awareness and acceptance of NCR’s Tower family. Part of the cause of this success was the decision by NCR senior management to hire reseller industry veterans for key positions within the fledgling operation and have that unit work with, but not answerable to, NCR’s traditional management structure. The industry shift from minicomputers brought personnel with minicomputer and reseller backgrounds such as the division head, Dan Kiegler (ex-Datapoint marketing), marketing manager and later Director of Field Sales, Dave Lang (ex-DEC reseller marketing director and salesperson) and other critical contributors at corporate levels; who then hired a complementary field sales organization primarily made up of proven people from DEC, Wang and other faltering minicomputer firms.

The NCR Corporation (originally National Cash Register) is an American computer hardware, software and electronics company that makes self-service kiosks, point-of-sale terminals, automated teller machines, check processing systems, barcode scanners, and business consumables. They also provide IT maintenance support services. NCR had been based in Dayton, Ohio, starting in 1884, but in June 2009 the company sold most of the Dayton properties and moved its headquarters to the Atlanta metropolitan area in unincorporated Gwinnett County, Georgia, near Duluth and Alpharetta.[4][5] In early January 2018, the new NCR Global Headquarters opened in Midtown Atlanta near Technology Square (adjacent to the Georgia Institute of Technology).

Having your event tickets professionally printed for your special occasion can add a sense of authenticity and exclusivity. Admission tickets can include the date and time of the event, the address, your company’s logo, and even special promotional offers. These vouchers can be printed in spot PMS colors, or full color on one side or both. There is also the option to add a perforation on the side or have the tickets numbered to help keep track of how many people attend your gathering.

GREAT tip with lots of uses! Thank you. This will save me hours of work on some tickets I’m designing. However, I also need to set up table tents that have numbers on them. They’re 2-up, and are folded, so each number needs to appear twice on the same page. In short, I want a page with 1/1 and 2/2, and I’m getting 1/2 and 3/4. Am I missing an obvious fix? Thank you.

“a raffle ticket number |how to number raffle tickets in indesign”

Hello Bruce, I seem to be having a different problem altogether. I created my ticket in word using logos and text boxes as needed, ticket looks great. I followed your very clear instructions but when I did the Finish & Merge I got this message, “You cannot include DATA, NEXT, NEXTIF, or SKIPIF fields in comments, headers, footers, footnotes or endnotes.” I then click on OK and get this, “A field calculation error occurred in record 1. Bruce any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!!

To make sure people get their prizes, give them lots of room to print their name, address, and phone number. Some people are leery about giving out their address, but do make sure you get a printed name and phone number.

If you select Perforation and Numbering, Numbering will apply to both sides of the Perforation line at the position you designate (Top, Center, Bottom). If you do not select Perforation, Numbering will apply to the area designated by the arrows only.

NCR paper provides duplicates when written or typed on without the use of carbon. Each sheet in a single set is a different color to make it easy to differentiate between copies. It’s better for the environment than carbon copy paper and makes record keeping easy.

I might not have explained in depth enough. I’m using FPImposer to create a 2up document that needs to be numbered from 1000-1500. With our equipment, and the way most NCR comes pre-packaged, I need to have what would be the 2 documents alternated (white 1000, yellow 1000, white 1001, yellow 1001), while maintaining a cutstack imposition for 2 5.5×8.5 sheets on a letter sized print.

In the Mail Merge Recipients dialog, you have the opportunity to customize the list. We want all the numbers (Figure F), so don’t uncheck anything before clicking OK. When applying this method to your own work, remember that you can exclude recipients at this point.

Below are 15 printable ticket raffle templates which are easy to use and customize. You’ll find choices for basic business types and kid-themed tickets as well as templates for multiple prize options. Simply find a raffle ticket template that you like and that fits your overall purpose, and make the necessary changes. It’s all that easy. You might have to take a trial-and-error approach to DIY printable raffle tickets, but once you get the hang of the process, you can use the same format as much as you like. How do you go about sequentially numbering for your raffle tickets? You can do sequential numbering manually, or you can use Microsoft Excel in a mail-merge type of operation. If you’re not sure how to go about the mail-merge, the directions are above in the Template Design File section. Once your tickets are printed, then comes the task of cutting and perforating the tickets so that you can easily tear the ticket from the stub. It’s not as hard as you might think. With a full-size paper cutter and an inexpensive tracing wheel, you can easily complete this part of the job. To make it a community effort, get help from your fundraising colleagues. A morning spent on this task — with the enticement of coffee and doughnuts — will fly by when you’re having fun with other people.

Unfortunately, InDesign isn’t exactly speedy at updating these numbers when you add a bunch of pages. But it’s not hard to duplicate and reduplicate until you have a thousand or more numbered tickets.

Otherwise, the further alternative is to make a spreadsheet with four columns of numbers (1-250; 251-500; 501-750; 751-1000), set the postcards 4 up and use one column for one postcard, another column for another postcard, etc.

“numbering social tickets _large numbered raffle tickets”

I have done this twice now, getting flustered. The ticket part the person keeps has the correct sequential number on it, but the side that we keep has the same number on it for the whole page. What part am I missing, at first I did not uncheck the box, but this time I did but have the same number on the stub side that we keep with the person’s name, etc

The company began as the National Manufacturing Company of Dayton, Ohio, was established to manufacture and sell the first mechanical cash register invented in 1879 by James Ritty. In 1884, the company and patents were bought by John Henry Patterson and his brother Frank Jefferson Patterson, and the firm was renamed the National Cash Register Company. Patterson formed NCR into one of the first modern American companies by introducing new, aggressive sales methods and business techniques. He established the first sales training school in 1893 and introduced a comprehensive social welfare program for his factory workers.

Thank you so much for this! These instructions were perfect and clear, and I got it all done, except when I go to print. It prints out 1 per page. I have Word 2007, and tried printing out on letter size with 4 per page, but then it prints them all very tiny in the corners. Can you help me? Thanks 🙂

The NCR 5xxx-series is the range of (ATM’s) produced by NCR from the early 1980s. Most models were designed and initially manufactured at its Dundee factory in Scotland, but later produced at several other locations around the world.

NCR booklets for receipt forms and invoice forms are very handy as a copy of the form can be easily torn from the booklet and given to the customer, while leaving a copy in the booklet for the business. Pages are perforated for easy removal. A sturdy cover wrap maintains the booklet’s integrity and can be inserted between forms to prevent transfer when completing the form.

Drag a horizontal and vertical guide onto the page. Set them both to 1p6 (18pt). To align them select the guide with the selection Tool (V) and type the number into the X and Y tab. This will ensure that the guides are set to the exact number.

Have tried a few and have found that this one is the best by far – have used it for raflle tickets (both colour & b/w) and invoice books – just import PDF and position where you want numbers to go and that’s it

In August 2011, NCR purchased Radiant Systems, a hospitality and retail systems company, for US$1.2 billion.[26] Radiant’s hospitality division turned into a new Hospitality Line of Business within NCR. Radiant’s petroleum and convenience retail business became part of its retail line of business. Several Radiant executives remained on board, including Scott Kingsfield, who was a general manager of NCR’s Retail Line of Business and left NCR in 2014, and Andy Heyman, who became general manager of NCR’s Financial Services line of business.

I’m not sure what you’re doing – the ‘/’ should be ‘\’ and the very first ticket # should not have the ‘\c’. See the attached. It has the FILLIN field in the first SEQ field as described in my previous post. Simply press Ctrl-A, then F9, input a starting # and all the tickets will update.

You can order custom sizes by using the “Any Size (Type Below)” option in the pricing calculator. First select the standard size option which is larger in both dimensions (height and width) than your desired custom size. In the “Any Size (Type Below)” box on the pricing calculator (shown below), type in your desired dimensions. Please remember if you are ordering “Any Size” for a product that is folded, “Any Size” dimensions are for the product before it is folded.

I found a # sequence generator that can give me one column with the sequence out to whatever I need (say 30,000) however, I can’t get a duplicate number. I need the ticket and the stub to have the same number.

I already created a background image (in EPS format, which is available to Vector Plus members in the download). Publisher doesn’t allow for automated sequencing, with the exception of the numbers that come on the tickets in the template. Each ticket must be hand-typed unless you choose to follow the template sequencing.

You can change the numbers in the list by restarting the sequence or by specifying a new start number. You can change the list’s style. You can do anything to this list that you can do to a normal numbered list because it is a numbered list, with one exception: the list, while easy to format, is fixed. If you delete an item, the list updates accordingly, but I haven’t found a way to add numbers.

What if I need to create 200 vouchers and each has a unique code not in any sort of numeric or alphabetical order. The codes are listed in excel under one column. Is there a way to link the text frame on a master page where the codes should be placed to the excel document to assign one code per voucher?

Looks like it works only for one line message, and does not work if my label contains 2 lines, e.g. the 1st line says Trade Show items, the 2nd line says carton number 1 of 30; 2 of 30. Also can I centre it vertically?

I used the CS3 directions to number 500 tickets both at the top and bottom of each ticket 4 up on a page. This method worked great and really didn’t take very long at all. I dudplicated several spreads at a time to create my 125 pages of tickets ( 4up = a total of 500 numbered tickets). Thanks so much for the help!

With your IDNYC card you will receive discounts on tickets to performances at their member theaters, including Roundabout Theatre Company, Second Stage Theatre, and Theatre for a New Audience. Create your first ticket, without the numbering. Then where you want the number to appear first, press Ctrl-F9 to create a pair of field braces (ie ‘{}’) and fill in between them so that you get ‘{SEQ Ticket \# 00000}’. Then, where you want the duplicate number to appear, create another field and fill it it so that you get ‘{SEQ Ticket \c \# 00000}’. From there it’s mostly just a matter of duplicating the whole ticket however many times you want. When you’re done press Ctrl-A to select the whole document, then press F9 to update the fields.

In a perfect world, cut and stack is largely controlled by a commercial printer’s RIP imposition software such as EFI Fiery or AGFA Apogee. However, I am aware that this software is out of reach of many people and do appreciate the lower tech ways of accomplishing the same task.

Added bonus 2: Regular lottery players have numbers they like to play. Since the tickets will come to you in order, your buyers will be able to choose their favorite numbers. Instead of buying one ticket they might buy several (with their favorite numbers) resulting in even more money for your cause!

Now for the slightly hard bit. If you just try and complete your merge now, you’ll get several pages of tickets. Each page will have four tickets on it. But all tickets on any page will have the same number. Each page will have a different number, but all the tickets on that page will have the same number. That’s no good. You need each ticket to have a different number.

The cost of these tickets was very reasonable, and saved us a lot of time and effort printing, cutting, and perforating our own. They arrived the day they were promised, and standard shipping rates are affordable. Online help was available while I was placing the order and my questions were answered right away, which was very helpful. The one thing I would look into the next time is changing the font size because I would like the print a little larger.

The sequential numbers required for the stationery are typically prepared in a spreadsheet such as Microsoft Excel and then exported as a txt or csv file for use with the Data Merge palette. However, a free script called Indys Number Generator written by Stanislav Antos can create sequential numbers without having to open any spreadsheet software. The script has been available for some time but I feel it is a hidden gem and definitely worth discussing.

The geometric sequence works differently – the number in the From field is multiplied by the Ratio field and then the next number in sequence is multiplied by the ratio field. For example, if the From number is 1, the To number is 4000 and the Ratio is 2, then the number sequence generated is 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048.

A solution of the above Diophantine equation can be represented by x 1 {\displaystyle x_{1}} stars, a separator (a bar), then x 2 {\displaystyle x_{2}} more stars, another separator, and so on. The total number of stars in this representation is k and the number of bars is n – 1 (since no separator is needed at the very end). Thus, a string of k + n – 1 symbols (stars and bars) corresponds to a solution if there are k stars in the string. Any solution can be represented by choosing k out of k + n – 1 positions to place stars and filling the remaining positions with bars. For example, the solution x 1 = 3 , x 2 = 2 , x 3 = 0 , x 4 = 5 {\displaystyle x_{1}=3,x_{2}=2,x_{3}=0,x_{4}=5} of the equation x 1 + x 2 + x 3 + x 4 = 10 {\displaystyle x_{1}+x_{2}+x_{3}+x_{4}=10} can be represented by

Daniel: InDesign doesn’t really do sequential numbering by itself… well, it does, but only through the paragraph numbering feature. You might be able to get it to work for serial numbers: http://indesignsecrets.com/figure-numbering-in-indesign-and-cross-references-to-them.php

Thank you for these instructions!! I’m using them to auto number my son’s baseball team raffle tickets which we hand numbered last year (UGH!). I followed the instructions exactly but for some reason the numbering is starting at 2 every time. I did deselect the checkbox about the column headers which seems the obvious culprit. Any ideas? I’m using Word on a PC. Thanks!!
