You can define a section prefix to label section pages automatically. For example, if you specify A– for Section Prefix on page 16 of a document and include the section prefix, the page will appear in the table of contents or index as A–16. Text you type for a section marker appears when you choose Type > Insert Special Character > Markers > Section Marker.

The book have many examples, and those examples come with tutorials. However, the tutorials are design specific, and apply to the example. For instance, a logo is created of a lighthouse. You learn some features of Corel, but its not meant to show all the features of Corel. One drawback of the book is that it relies on keyboard shortcuts and does not tell you where to go in the application on many instances. But, I believe the book is more or less trying to go through the methodology of using Corel, not showing you a step by step for every function. If the book had more concentration on using the mouse and where to find features in the user interface, and for screen captures, I would have rated it a 5-star.


There are four dimension line tools, parallel vertical / horizontal, angular and segment. The Parallel dimension tool allows you to draw dimension lines on any angle. To draw a parallel dimension line, click the Parallel dimension tool in the toolbox. To draw a vertical or horizontal dimension line, open the Dimension tools flyout by clicking the arrow in the bottom-right corner of the Parallel dimension tool button in the toolbox, and click the Horizontal or Vertical dimension tool button.
For some documents, though, you’ll want to get a little fancier. For example, what if you don’t want the page number to appear on the first page of the document (or on the first page of each section)? Or what if you want the page number placement to be different on odd and even pages, the way it is in a book? Or what if you have different sections that you want to be numbered differently—like an introduction or table of contents where you want Roman numerals instead of the Arabic numerals used in the rest of your document?
Thanks Javad. That sounds like a very interesting document! So, one part has the binding on the left like normal, and one part has the binding on the right, is this correct? It is possible to re-start the numbering of the page numbers, however the binding swapping might be a more interesting challenge. I would take the easy way out and just create two separate documents, then combine them afterwards!
Drag the number, which Publisher defaults to “1,” into place on the ticket. To change the sequence, such as to start with “100” instead of “1,” click the “Page Number” button again and choose “Format Page Numbers.” Click the “Start this section with” radio button and type the new number into the field. Click the “OK” button to have Publisher update the ticket number.

Choose the color and font scheme for your brochure. Each brochure template comes with a default color and font scheme, but if you wish to use a different color or font scheme, you can do so by selecting the appropriate new scheme. Choose a new color scheme from one of the named color schemes in the Color Scheme dropdown and a new font from the Font Scheme dropdown.


I always loved the option to add a Swatch from within the Paragraph Style options dialog by double clicking on the fill or stroke icon. But I noticed what I now think is a bug in Indesign CC. When you do this in Indesign CC, create a new swatch, then click ok or add, it doesn’t show up in the swatch list. You have to close and reopen the paragraph style options again.

Finally, the last line of the shape should end by clicking on the very first point you started with. You know the shape is closed when you can apply fill or color to the shape.

With the numbered paragraphs shown above, there is no extra spacing between the paragraphs. That’s easy to fix. Go ahead and type out at least part of your first numbered paragraph, then go to the Page Layout tab and adjust the value of Spacing After in the Paragraph section. Still no extra space? There’s one more setting to check. Click the launcher arrow in the lower right-hand corner to go to the Paragraph dialog box, uncheck the box next to “Don’t add space between paragraphs of the same style.” Click OK. That paragraph and all the remaining numbered ones will have more breathing room.
Change the label options from Normal Paper to Labels. When you do this, a long list of label types will become available in the options dialog. There are hundreds of label types for every manufacturer, such as Avery and others. Most people in the US will want to go to AVERY Lsr/Ink. Many other brands of paper sheets will include the matching Avery numbers on their products.
Applying a character style to your bullet or numbered list character allows you to apply any formatting you want … except for an underline. Even the activation of the underline option in the character style settings will result in InDesign completely ignoring you. For some reason this feature is unfortunately unsupported so it’s up to you to try to be creative with this. One possibility would be to use a Paragraph Rule (if possible) and just play with the Left- and Right Indent.

I am trying to customize our Oracle Receivables invoice program for Release 12.0.6. I am modifying the seeded RAXINV.rdf because I need to add three fields into the query. I am adding the three columns in the data model and the Common Query user parameter. I am planning on using BIP to customize the layout. The issue I have with modifying the custom RAXINV.rdf is this. Everytime I modify the data model and the COmmon Query parameter, some of the object names change by appending a "1" to the object name (i.e. BILL_CUST_NAME become BILL_CUST_NAME1). Is there a better way of customizing the invoice? I would like to by pass Oracle Reports if at all possible.

The matter is that I'm not printing in a blank page so I had to limit the number of rows of the section that contains the details of payments documents inside the outbound payment, this means that althougt I have 2 or 6 row os payments document I have always to fill with empty rows till 10 rows so the total section fits in the correct row of the page the other condition is that I have the maximum of 10 rows in this frame but this is solved with the example that you provide.
One solution is to format the heading with the style and follow it with a hidden paragraph mark. You should format the text in the next paragraph with a style that is not included in the Table of Contents. A hidden paragraph mark keeps the text together on one line when it is printed, even though it is actually two separate paragraphs. The Table of Contents command picks up only those paragraphs with heading styles and places them into the Table of Contents.
The auto-indenting feature of bullets and lists has always frustrated me. EVERY time you apply a numbered or bulleted list, you've got to set the indents. I want my lists to be indented at the very left of the page, flush with the rest of the paragraphs. But no, Microsoft insists that you want them indented by 0.63cm and hanging at 1.27cm (WHY 0.63? Why not 0.7? Or 1.0cm? But that's a question for a different session.) (I know, it's because MS is American and still uses inches etc...)
If you want numbered headings to be underlined, but do not want a line under the number, it can be difficult if you don't know how it works. This is because by default, the format of the number follows the format of the text that follows it. For example, let's say you want to underline a paragraph in a Heading 2 style.
