Write in the information. The sort of information you put onto each ticket varies from raffle to raffle. What matters most is that all tickets are consistent. Except for the ticket number, which should vary from each ticket, each ticket should be roughly the same. While the tickets should be customized to fit the event, here are some details you almost certainly want to have:

Sounds like you have put a “Next Record” field after the final ticket on each page. Because the final ticket is at the end of the page, the number will increment automatically at the end of a page. If you put a ‘Next’ field there too, you’ll jump two numbers. This issue is mentioned in Step 5 above, but maybe I should make it clearer.
Use scissors or a paper cutter to cut the tickets, leaving each set intact. When a person buys a ticket, the seller should separate the tickets right then, giving one ticket to the buyer and dropping the other ticket into the receptacle from which the winning ticket will be drawn.

To make the data file you fill the first column starting with the first number in the first row and put the second number in the first columen second row, and soforth, filling the column downward in in consecutive order until the correct number of rows is reached, then you start with the next number in the first row of the second column and work down again. This should make it clear that every row represents a stack of ticket. A spreadsheet like Excel can auto-fill the grid for you once you have enough numbers in place to establish the pattern, generally three in either direction.

Click Print Preview to check the settings. (Publisher 2010 and 2013 does this automatically.) The ticket numbers should increase by one (Figure K) as they do in the Excel sheet. Publisher will generate enough pages to accommodate your entire list of values in Excel.

Zoom into the tickets where you have placed the text for the numbering and click on the data merge palette. This should be open already since we already called in the data file in Step 11. What is the best way to set up a document to do this without having to manually enter 300 numbers? The best way to handle this depends on whether you’re using CS2 or CS3. I much prefer the CS3 method.
If you are making the tickets ten-up you can put everything on a master page. Make the ticket number [Page Number][digit 0–9] then fill with pages based on that master. Page 1 will be tickets 10–19, page 29 will be tickets 290–299, etc.
Now for the tricky bit. Mail Merges usually have the one ‘recipient’ per page. So Word won’t pick out the next number in your list until it gets to a new page. By default, it’ll print you four tickets on each page, all with the same number. Then a new page, all with the next number. Etc.
