I know that PrintShopMail will do it, but I was wandering if there was a less expensive solution out there so that I could get numbered tickets (usually 4-up) right off the Xerox. I just want to avoid having to go the the Windmill after trimming and doing it the old fashion way. There is a tiny little copy shop here in town that is doing it, and am willing to bet that they are not using PrintShopMail, but I’m also not going to ask them to share their methods with a competitor. There has to be cheaper solution. I know that I can do it with auto page numbering in Indesign, but that means I can only print raffle tickets 1-up which wont work.
The number of the ticket is the only thing that changes. If you’re starting to sell tickets that are in the double or triple digits, you can add a digit to the front. However, given how fast numbers can be written by hand, this may not be worth the trouble.

12. To build the document, you will add the first merge field, the room number. To do this, choose Room from the Field list box, and click Insert Print Merge Field. This will place the variable on the document. Next, choose Subject from the Field list box, and click Insert Print Merge Field once more. Now both variables are inserted in the CorelDRAW document.
The tickets were printed exactly as ordered and arrived on the day they were scheduled to. We are very happy again with the high quality nature of the printing and the material the tickets are printed on, even with choosing the least expensive options. We’ll be back next time we need tickets!
Back in the document, select your dummy number in the first ticket. Click the button “Insert Merge Field,” then select the one entry in the drop-down menu, which will be the first number from your spreadsheet.

To do this, select the space right before the first <> in your second raffle ticker. When you have that space selected, click on Insert Word Field > Next Record
Instead of working harder than you need to, insert a one-column table with as many rows as necessary to accommodate your list. Then, using Word’s numbering feature, number that column. Finally, convert the table to text. The resulting list is a fixed numbered list, so you’ll have to live with its limitations; when you can do so, this method definitely beats most alternative solutions.
Print your template sheet. When the tickets have all the necessary information on them except for the ticket number, load adequate paper into your printer and make as many copies as you need. It’s a good idea to print a couple extra sheets in case you make a mistake, or wind up needing more than you expected.

Was very easy to use and the tickets looked great. Unfortunately, when I went to print them, there is a fee. I am doing this for a non-profit group and I personally do not have the funds to do this. Maybe something before we get to the print page would make for a lot less frustration which generated negative feedback. The tickets look great otherwise and was very easy to do.

When you are ready to print, you will need to either merge the data to a new document or straight to your printer. I recommend merging to a new document so you can preview the entire thing before printing. The icons look like (Merge to Document, Merge to Printer)
The event will set up certain prizes. Raffle tickets are then sold, and the people told to hold them until the raffle is held. Raffle tickets are then drawn randomly, and the holders of the winning tickets get a prize. While organizers can be as creative as they wish, offering bulk purchases of tickets and discounts, the basic rules stay the same. The benefit of holding raffles is that donors enjoy the anticipation of possibly winning a prize, while donating to a charity. This makes raffle tickets one of the most popular ways to earn for a nonprofit.
You need to create a list of numbers using some method (maybe even through VBA) as a text file, database or other data source, then just insert merge field in the document and use Print Merge to generate multiple labels with different numbers in it. (just need to give it enough space to fit the longest string along as many lines as you think there could be) If I reserve space for 50 chars and the major strings are 25 chars, the result is not professional looking. My solution for all print merge for ID cards (and similarities, incl. Auto numbering) is to merging data BEFORE printing, in an CDR file with all pages. So, I check all the cards and I correct only on text object how need. Unfortunately, InDesign isn’t exactly speedy at updating these numbers when you add a bunch of pages. But it’s not hard to duplicate and reduplicate until you have a thousand or more numbered tickets.
This application creates a data file that can be used with Indesigns Mail/data merge feature that easily allows for numbering raffle tickets and documents and even allows for numbering in multiple locations that is often needed on raffle tickets that require a numbered stud.
(Ticket artwork courtesy of. Thanks, Mordy, for pointing out this site!) CS3 List Numbering A significantly more elegant way to handle numbering in InDesign is to use the autonumbering feature in CS3. (CS2 also has an paragraph numbering feature, but it’s not nearly as powerful.) First, create a numbering “list” by choosing Type > Bulleted & Numbered Lists > Define Lists. Then click New to create a new list. You can name it anything you want, but make sure the Continued Numbers across Stories is enabled: After you click OK and close the Define Lists dialog box, create a text frame and type any character (such as a space).
Hit the Merge to New Document button on the Mail Merge toolbar. (I don’t advise merging right to the printer. Most of you that are selling raffle tickets don’t want to waste the paper to print them wrong.)

My script looks for the object-name and replaces all the numbers at the end of the text-string. Example: TEST010111 start: 9 how long is the number-string? 5 > TEST00009,TEST00010 and so on every marked object with the specified objectname will get the new string. I have another script that places the marked object(s) in a user-sized sheet after editing the quantity X and Y and the space between the objects.
