“raffle ticket numbering -how can I number raffle tickets in indesign”

Can I add Artwork or a Logo? No problem, it only adds $10.00 to the price. Your artwork or logo should be at least 300 dpi. Upload your artwork with your order. You will receive an email proof before your Cheap Raffle Ticket Printing are printed.

When you are ready to print, you will need to either merge the data to a new document or straight to your printer. I recommend merging to a new document so you can preview the entire thing before printing. The icons look like (Merge to Document, Merge to Printer)

Different Colors or Size: Our standard tickets are printed in black ink on yellow 90 lb index card stock. They measure 2 1/8? by 5 1/2? with the stub 1 1/2? from the left. We also offer White, Blue and Green card stock at no additional charge. If you would like your tickets printed in one of these colors just let us know in the “comments” section.

Now for the tricky bit. Mail Merges usually have the one ‘recipient’ per page. So Word won’t pick out the next number in your list until it gets to a new page. By default, it’ll print you four tickets on each page, all with the same number. Then a new page, all with the next number. Etc.

You can use Microsoft Office Publisher, Microsoft Office Excel, Microsoft Office Access, Microsoft Office Outlook, or Microsoft Office Outlook with Business Contact Manager to create a data source for your mail merge project. If you want to create a large list of unique, sequential numbers to use as tracking codes for gift certificates or coupons, however, you can use Excel to quickly generate this list.

Thank you for these clear instructions. I have had the same problem as Mommy Vaughan and followed the suggestion. However, on re-opening the Word document, I have the dialogue box Invalid Merge Field. I have to use Task Manager to close down Word. I am using Word 2010. Maybe that is part or all of the problem. Any ideas please? I need to sort this by tomorrow night to print them on Monday!

You need to create a list of numbers using some method (maybe even through VBA) as a text file, database or other data source, then just insert merge field in the document and use Print Merge to generate multiple labels with different numbers in it. (just need to give it enough space to fit the longest string along as many lines as you think there could be) If I reserve space for 50 chars and the major strings are 25 chars, the result is not professional looking. My solution for all print merge for ID cards (and similarities, incl. Auto numbering) is to merging data BEFORE printing, in an CDR file with all pages. So, I check all the cards and I correct only on text object how need. In trying to produce 300 tickets, I can get all of the first numbered position to be sequential over 100 pages. But, when moving down to the second or third ticket position on the page and setting up the numbering, I repeatedly find that I get a repeat of the first 100 numbers. I am lost as to how to proceed. Is there any other missing step or info that I am assumed to have knowledge about that was not mentioned above? If you know of some other site that might explain this process any better, please post.

I’ve heard of programs that you can use that fill these in but I have no idea how to use them/find them/if they’re reliable or if they do exactly what I need them to and if they’ll output to a postscript printer properly.

Highlight your placeholder. Again, Remember, for Raffle tickets, you will have two placeholders. One for the ticket itself, and the other which is for the piece that is given to the individual who purchases the raffle ticket. This is where you want your sequential numbers to appear on your ticket.

Zoom into the tickets where you have placed the text for the numbering and click on the data merge palette. This should be open already since we already called in the data file in Step 11. Place the text cursor behind the last letter of your text. Then click on the text data file (100.txt) in the Data Merge Palette.

Drag a horizontal and vertical guide onto the page. Set them both to 1p6 (18pt). To align them select the guide with the selection Tool (V) and type the number into the X and Y tab. This will ensure that the guides are set to the exact number.

Now for the slightly http://sl-inworld.com bit. If you just try and complete your merge now, you’ll get several pages of tickets. Each page will have four tickets on it. But all tickets on any page will have the same number. Each page will have a different number, but all the tickets on that page will have the same number. That’s no good. You need each ticket to have a different number.

Fill out the series by bringing your mouse cursor over to hover at the lower right corner of cell A2. When the cursor changes from a large outlined plus symbol to a smaller, plain plus symbol, click and hold the left mouse button, then drag the mouse straight down to select more cells in column A.

To make the data file you fill the first column starting with the first number in the first row and put the second number in the first columen second row, and soforth, filling the column downward in in consecutive order until the correct number of rows is reached, then you start with the next number in the first row of the second column and work down again. This should make it clear that every row represents a stack of ticket. A spreadsheet like Excel can auto-fill the grid for you once you have enough numbers in place to establish the pattern, generally three in either direction.

It is always good to answer any questions that you anticipate on the movie ticket. This will save you the stress of having to answer this questions at the time of purchase of the ticket from the movie lovers before they get a ticket.

Your neighborhood businesses. These people are normally eager to participate in such activities and approaching them will not be in vain as this is a good venue for selling many raffle tickets. Exercise caution when dealing with high traffic business as they are likely not be responsible for the tickets and the money due to the nature of their businesses. It will be prudent to have one member of the group checking by every day to collect the money.

I have used their raffle ticket services going on 3 years and they are a pleasure to work with. They made ordering and re-ordering simple and easy and just placed another order. I would recommend them to anyone. Tod G.

Chuck, It does look as though using data merge is the best way, but rather than generating the numbers in Excel here is an improved number generator script to create indesign number and counterfoil numbering data merge files. We recently had to print 500 numbered tickets 8 up on 8.5 x 11. When we took it back to Bindery they would have had to hand collate the tickets back in order after the cut.

To print tickets with Word, create a table that fills the entire page, create each ticket with text and clip art, then go to “Insert,” click on “Field,” select “Numbering” and then “Sequential” to number each ticket. Create sequential tickets in a Word document with a tutorial from a computer consultant in this free video on computer programs.

Create a new document in Word, and set up one ticket to occupy about one quarter of the page. Just use tabs and line breaks to format the text, don’t use text boxes. And leave some space to put the ticket numbers in later. You might end up with something like this:

That would make sense, but there’s a catch: Autonumbered paragraphs on a master page don’t update until you override them. That is, you have to Command/Ctrl-Shift-click on them to make them “kick in” and update to the correct number.

If your tickets don’t require sequential numbering, you can find more templates at RaffleTicketTemplates.org. The tickets there are more the standard fare. They have different sizes, layouts, and downloads for both Microsoft Word and Corel Draw.

You’ll need to merge two documents: the Publisher document, or ticket, and an Excel workbook that contains the numbers you want to use to number those tickets. Please don’t let the term mail merge intimidate you. Merging a Publisher document to generate sequential numbers is easy.

Mail Merge continues to be one of the most powerful, yet misunderstood Microsoft tool. Learn how easy it is to use a simple table and the label merge type to create customized sequentially numbered raffle or admission tickets. See www.sandymcvey.com for practice files and contact information.

To insert your ticket numbers, first click the area where you want the number to go. Then, click on Insert Merge Fields. A Dialog will pop up and “Numbers” should be selected. Click OK. You should see “<>” inserted into your document. You can insert the <> anywhere you want on the ticket and as many times as you wish.

I’ve described how to do this using Data Merge a number of times, including in post # 6 at I need to number 20,000 tickets in InDesign and have them in order when I cut them where I describe how to do it for stack-cut imposition without a plugin.

I have done this twice now, getting flustered. The ticket part the person keeps has the correct sequential number on it, but the side that we keep has the same number on it for the whole page. What part am I missing, at first I did not uncheck the box, but this time I did but have the same number on the stub side that we keep with the person’s name, etc

Publisher doesn’t allow for automated sequencing, with the exception of the numbers that come on the tickets in the template. Each ticket must be hand-typed unless you choose to follow the template sequencing.

4. Stop dragging when you’ve selected enough numbers. Note that while you’re holding the mouse button down, a tool tip will appear nearby displaying the number you’re up to. If you’ve gone too far, simply mouse back up.

Now, in the Mail Merge Dialog, you should select “Use an existing list” if it is not already selected. Then, click on Browse to locate your excel file. If you are looking for a number series file, you can download our version here – Number Series

Sounds like you have put a “Next Record” field after the final ticket on each page. Because the final ticket is at the end of the page, the number will increment automatically at the end of a page. If you put a ‘Next’ field there too, you’ll jump two numbers. This issue is mentioned in Step 5 above, but maybe I should make it clearer.

Create a master frame in ID to hold the number and if I have more than one ticket on a page just link the frames. Apply a paragraph style that starts in a new frame for the numbers. Place the text file with a shift click and the numbers are formatted and the new pages are autoflowed. The number list is very easy to create in Excel with the auto fill feature for that type of thing.

Our raffle ticket templates have a placeholder for a ticket number, usually “xxx” to remind you it needs to be replaced. Select it, click Insert Merge Field > Ticket. Do the same for the second ticket number placeholder. Most tickets will have two number placeholders because one part of the ticket is for the raffle host (you) and the other is for the purchaser.

This video tutorial demonstrates how easy it is to automatically number raffle tickets in Microsoft Word. Simply download a raffle tickets template, download our number series file, and Mail Merge to create the ticket numbers.

The next step is to create the simple Excel workbook that contains the ticket numbers. Open a blank Excel sheet. Using Figure B as a guide, create the ticket numbering sequential numbering in word and save it, making sure to note the new workbook’s name and location. As we discussed earlier, the Excel workbook stores the ticket numbers. In this example, we’ll create 11 tickets numbered 100 through 110. You’ll need to update the ticket values for each merge.

You don’t need to be so much worried about how you will get the prizes to award the winners. In each community there are certain organizations or businesses that recognize the importance and the hustle that one goes through in selling the raffle tickets, these businesses or organizations will be quite instrumental in catering for the prizes. Alternatively you could choose to have a 50/50 raffle which implies that half of the donations or cash will have to be given to the winner of the chosen raffle ticket and the remaining amount will be retained by the organization or group which was responsible for the sale of the raffle tickets. This kind of arrangement is common among the youth and the surrounding community is mostly receptive and helpful to those raising the funds.

Nowadays when you explore the internet you will be bewildered by the number of Word templates which has in itself several varieties of event tickets for you to use conveniently. Microsoft Word gives you options to avail those tickets as they appear on the template or you can make it creative, artistic and alluring at your wits’ imaginative power. You can even slot in images for a better appeal!

I created and ordered 1,000 raffle tickets and I had them delivered next day for less the $100. Very satisfied with quality. Customer service was very helpful as well with answering all of my questions.

Use CorelDraw to layout the raffle ticket template. You can use the label design tool (located under “Page Setup” on the “Layout” menu) to create a raffle ticket template. For instance, if you choose a label template with four boxes in a row, the first and third boxes contain the raffle ticket while the second and fourth boxes represent the ticket stub. After choosing your desired label size, enter text and images to create the custom template, then print the document on card stock paper instead of label paper.

You can change the numbers in the list by restarting the sequence or by specifying a new start number. You can change the list’s style. You can do anything to this list that you can do to a normal numbered list because it is a numbered list, with one exception: the list, while easy to format, is fixed. If you delete an item, the list updates accordingly, but I haven’t found a way to add numbers.

Create a raffle ticket template in Microsoft Word. Word allows you to generate text boxes for this purpose. Simply create two separate text boxes—one for the main ticket and another smaller one for the stub—and place them side-by-side on a page. Enter your raffle ticket information inside of each of the text boxes, then copy and paste the boxes throughout the page to complete your template.

If you’d rather make your tickets from scratch, take advantage of Publisher’s “Insert” tab to add your own images or draw from the “Shapes” collection. Add the numbers in the same way, starting with Step 3.

That would make sense, but there’s a catch: Autonumbered paragraphs on a master page don’t update until you override them. That is, you have to Command/Ctrl-Shift-click on them to make them “kick in” and update to the correct number.

If you’re planning to sell tickets prior to the event and the proceeds (from ticket sales) for a single draw are not anticipated to exceed £20,000 then you must register with your local authority as a ‘small society lottery’. You would need to pay a small fee and comply with a range of regulatory requirements including providing entrants to the lottery with tickets stating specific information (see below) and preventing children under the age of 16 from participating. If the proceeds for a single draw were to exceed £20,000 you would require a ‘large society lottery’ licence from the Gambling Commission.

Tombolas are often run at non-commercial events, such as school fetes, and so normally offered as a type of lottery called an ‘incidental non-commercial lottery’ under the Gambling Act 2005. Although there are other rules for this type of lottery, the only requirements regarding tickets are that they are sold at the place where the event is held, while the event is taking place. Under the Act there is no reference to ticket pricing so it is acceptable to, for example, charge 50p for one ticket, £1 for three tickets. Similarly, if during the latter stages of the event there were still prizes left, there are no restrictions on reducing prices of tickets further in order to sell them.

This is all helpful, but I still have yet to get it to work. I am printing them on one of our Xerox 700 Digital Presses, I will be cutting them with a shear cutter. Our main work is Large/Grand format digital printing.

Rather, I was just admitting that I had no idea why someone using CS3 would not see the dialog boxes as they are shown above. If you’re using CS2, they would be significantly different. But the second part of the tip (where I show the numbering dialog boxes) relies on CS3 or later. If you are using CS3 or CS4 and you don’t see that dialog box, feel free to email me at david [at] indesignsecrets [dot] com and send me a screen shot of what you are seeing. The sequential numbering in word that Mike referred to worked very well with CS2 and was fairly easy to extend to doing counterfoil numbers as well, but doesn’t seem to work with CS3. I have thrown together a small online script to generate the contents of a data source file to do ticket numbering through the normal CS3 InDesign data merge routine.

I left the office and it was at around 83% done and it had taken 2 hours to get there. I’m going to have to set these up a few times a year for events and stuff like that and I need a better flow for any type of setup (4up, 3up, whatever up etc.).

Create variable data projects of all types. Design tickets, forms, labels or any document that requires imported data, serial numbering, text, or graphics. Barcode static and imported data. Works with most desktop, label, ticket and commercial

Remember that you must update the values in the sheet if you want to continue the numbering series with the next batch of tickets. For instance, if you want your next batch of tickets to start with 112, you’d open the workbook and change the value 100 to 112, and update the remaining values accordingly. Don’t forget to save the workbook after updating the values.

One of the easiest ways to track the success of marketing pieces like gift certificates and coupons is to add a tracking number or code to each gift certificate or coupon that you distribute. When gift certificates or coupons are redeemed, you can use these tracking numbers to record and categorize customer responses.

The task of producing numbered tickets in Microsoft Word might seem pretty tough and strenuous especially for those people who are not skilled and trained in using Word files. There are quite a lot of people who have been left disappointed, disheartened and exasperated by their failures in attempting to explore how to create tickets for an event using Word templates. Many unanswered queries, doubts and confusions might have stood in the path of your success.

CS2 (or earlier) “Cheesy” Numbering There’s an old Steve Martin joke about how to make a million dollars which starts, “First, get a million dollars” That’s the key to this trick, too: First, get a bunch of numbers. Now import or paste those numbers into a thread so that the numbers appear in the right place. If you need two matching numbers, just import it twice. To ensure each number fills its own text frame, select the whole story (Command/Ctrl-A), open the Keep Options (Command/Ctrl-Option/Alt-K) and choose In Next Frame from the Start Paragraph pop-up menu.

Given that Word can support 2,147,483,647 SEQ fields, the whole job could be done in a single document containing 30,000 tickets. On my system, creating such a document took only a few minutes and, once created took about two minutes to update the fields – and that was with about 40,000 pairs of SEQ fields coded as {SEQ Ticket \# 00000} and {SEQ Ticket \c \# 00000}. This number formatting is enough to go to 99,999 tickets.

Next we will import our pre-designed raffle image. For the purpose of this tutorial we will be using a pdf that was created using Adobe Illustrator (Download pdf File). Place this pdf into the document by going to (File > Place) browse from the file and click Open.

Fill out the series by bringing your mouse cursor over to hover at the lower right corner of cell A2. When the cursor changes from a large outlined plus symbol to a smaller, plain plus symbol, click and hold the left mouse button, then drag the mouse straight down to select more cells in column A.

GREAT tip with lots of uses! Thank you. This will save me hours of work on some tickets I’m designing. However, I also need to set up table tents that have numbers on them. They’re 2-up, and are folded, so each number needs to appear twice on the same page. In short, I want a page with 1/1 and 2/2, and I’m getting 1/2 and 3/4. Am I missing an obvious fix? Thank you.

That’s right. There’s a great ticket template that comes with Microsoft Word 2010 and newer. When you create a new document in word, just type “raffle tickets” in the search box. Then you’ll see a thumbnail image of the template.

In this tutorial, we’ll explain how to do an easy setup in InDesign for automatically numbered raffle tickets. We will look at the handy “Data Merge Tool,” which is a great time-saver. Let’s jump into this quick tutorial!

(If you prefer using the keyboard, rather than the mouse, then do this instead of dragging down: select cell A2, hit CTRL+C to copy, then select cell A3 and use SHIFT+PageDown to select all the way down to row 500. Then hit CTRL+V to paste.)

You’re selling raffle tickets to make money, so why buy the tickets pre-printed? Using Microsoft Word’s mail merge function, you can create your own raffle tickets and design them any way you please. A mail merge doesn’t have to make mail; it is simply a way to define certainly elements of a document, then automatically insert variable elements, such as raffle ticket numbers. The most important thing to remember is that each ticket needs a mate–you don’t want to pull winning ticket number 81018 only to find that no one bought that one.

Next, choose a font and font size for the number (select the code with your mouse and change the font), and add other body text and formatting. Finally, merge the label, card, or sheet “x” times with the LABLCOPY macro (found here in the Library). You’ll get consecutively numbered labels/cards/sheets — as many as you need.

5. Currently you can pull the default number “1” which Microsoft Publisher shows and put it on your ticket. Don’t forget to hit on the OK tab which makes the publisher to update the event ticket number without any errors.

You probably know about Word’s mail merge feature, and you might even use it to print labels or other documents, where some of the information changes (such as form letters). You can use the same feature with Publisher. Although you might not think of Publisher as an Office app, it comes with several different versions of Office. In this article, I’ll show you how to print sequentially numbered tickets using Publisher and Excel. This article provides instructions for Publisher 2007, 2010, and 2013.

Running a raffle at events can boost profits, whilst also building links with local businesses. As raffles fall under the terms of the Gambling Act 2005, we asked the Gambling Commission – what do PTAs need to know?

Grocery stores: A folding table and a couple of colorful posters are all you need to set up an attractive display outside of a grocery store or supermarket. People are going inside to shop, so they have money.

While you don’t want to waste anyone’s time intentionally, it may be helpful to contact a few places. It’s possible you’ll be able to snag a better deal if the company is open to wholesale bargaining.

If you have already developed a set of specific code numbers that you want to use to track and categorize customer responses, you can type these numbers into a column of the data source that you plan to use for the mail merge.

Compare manufacturing prices.[10] For any sizable raffle (500+ tickets) it is recommended that you buy tickets from a professional company. This will lessen the workload for you, and there won’t be a risk of potential ticket fraud. There are online outlets that specialize in ticket printing.[11][12] Check online for a few of these and compare prices to see which one suits you best.

Football, Baseball, Raffles, Prom, Graduation the list goes on. The worse part is each is different and has to have x number in this color that color it can be very frustrating. Then to top it off I have the most random number of requested tickets sometimes and it was extremely difficult to find a method that worked and yours did!

I then numbered two rows across 1 -4, then 5 -8. Then I dropped down to A – H in row 260. (I did this to give 1,000+ numbered tickets.) I then used the Excel fill function chosing series and told the program to skip by 4. It filled sequential numbering in word rows. I then saved as a tab delimited text file. In InDesign CS4, I set the tickets four up on the master page. On page 1, I positioned my merge fields such that ticket1 was directly above stub1, ticket 2 directly above stub 2, etc.

Fill in the information. Much like making your tickets by hand, you’ll need to input information for the tickets. Because you’re doing it via computer, it will be faster to make the tickets consistent. Write in the basic information into the template you’re using. The individual ticket number can be either written in or sequenced via a program like Microsoft Publisher.[6] Although specifics will vary between raffle events, here are some things you’ll absolutely want on each ticket:

You will now see a “Catalog Merge Area”. You’ll be able to enter anything in here — plus the data fields we created in the Excel document previously. This area is duplicated automatically 8 times per page (because my example is 2×4)!

Now for the slightly hard bit. If you just try and complete your merge now, you’ll get several pages of tickets. Each page will have four tickets on it. But all tickets on any page will have the same number. Each page will have a different number, but all the tickets on that page will have the same number. That’s no good. You need each ticket to have a different number.

With all of the many available templates, how do you select the right ticket design? It’s a good idea to choose a design featuring a background image that in some way fits with your fundraising purpose. This ties your efforts together in a cohesive way, making your tickets more attractive to buyers. A good design gives potential buyers an idea into the type of cause they’re supporting right off the bat. If you’re raising money for a sports organization, choose a template featuring sporty images. LIkewise, a template with musical notes on it fits in well for a band-related fundraiser. However, if you need a basic template that works for any function, we have simple designs that fit any general need. It’s best to use something other than general copy paper when printing raffle tickets. Heavier weight paper, or even card stock, could be a better choice. Not only does it look more professional, but the tickets will tear off more easily along the perforation. Choose paper colors on the lighter end of the spectrum so that the template design shows up clearly when printed. Office supply stores and craft stores carry papers in various weights, and these are both good places to buy card stock. Some stores sell raffle ticket paper that’s already perforated, so using this type eliminates one of your most time-consuming tasks.

Do you know of any other good raffle ticket templates for Word? Got some tips on making great tickets? How about things you’ve done to boost ticket sales? We’d love to hear about them. Helping people make use of technology to help others is a worthy goal.

I am trying to create Raffle Style tickets using Avery 16154 ticket stock.  I am working in Adobe InDesign CC.  Can someone tell me how to create sequentially numbered tickets in Adobe InDesign CC (I have found it for other versions which don’t work in CC). I need a ticket number on the “stub” and the same matching number on the tear off portion.  They are 10 tickets to an 8.5 X 11 page.

Now repeat for the second and third tickets. But not the fourth, because that’s at the end of the page, so Word will skip to the next number anyway, because the next page always gets the next item in your merge list. Your document should look like this:

Click on Update Labels in the “Mailing” ribbon, and this will roll out the formatting to all the cells. You can click “Preview Results” to see what the tickets will look like when printed, and you can navigate pages and tickets by using Next Record, Last Record, Previous Record, or First Record.

Drag a horizontal and vertical guide onto the page. Set them both to 1p6 (18pt). To align them select the guide with the selection Tool (V) and type the number into the X and Y tab. This will ensure that the guides are set to the exact number.

From here there is all kind of ways to get the data on your design depending on what your printing to. For example, if you are printing to a Fiery that supports Freeform then you send you layout file and set it as a background then print the mail merge on top of the Freeform background.

This is all helpful, but I still have yet to get it to work. I am printing them on one of our Xerox 700 Digital Presses, I will be cutting them with a shear cutter. Our main work is Large/Grand format digital printing.

Creating a sequential list of numbers, in Word, sounds like an intimidating task. Sure, you can create a numbered list quickly enough, but that feature works with additional text – you’re numbering something. If you want a list of just numbers, you have to work a bit harder. Word’s SEQ field might come to mind, but that solution is better suited to template-type numbering. In order words, this field works great if you’re numbering documents, labels, and so on. It doesn’t work so well if you just want to create a list of sequential numbers. You can use it that way, but it’ll be more work than it’s worth.

I used the CS3 directions to number 500 tickets both at the top and bottom of each ticket 4 up on a page. This method worked great and really didn’t take very long at all. I dudplicated several spreads at a time to create my 125 pages of tickets ( 4up = a total of 500 numbered tickets). Thanks so much for the help!

The very first step you need to do is to drag your cursor towards the Help icon in the new word document. This icon usually appears in the right part of the top portion of the tool bar listing. It is depicted by a question mark symbol. You have to left click on this menu with your mouse and you need to opt from the type of help listed in the drop-down carte du jour. Annabelle – You need the tickets in the top slot of each page to run from 1 to 167, then the second slot down to be 168 – 335, then have 336 – 500 in the third slot. Easiest way to achieve that would be to create a your list of numbers in Step 3 in Excel so it runs as 1,168,336,2,169,337 … etc., like this:

Create the sample label so that it has the word Exhibit followed by a merge field that represents the number being pulled from the Excel worksheet. Make sure the label contents are formatted the way you need them.

Though you are trying to make sure that you have the best sequential numbering in word ticket template you should customize it to suit the movie that one is going to watch. You could attain this more easily by taking a photo of a high or intense moment in the movie to be shown. This site offers you with movie ticket templates that have employed good graphics in their designs and you could customize these to be in line with your movie.

They are also a valuable tool at events to encourage attendees to stay until the very ending of the event when the raffle takes place. Aside from the prizes, the most important thing to have in order to host an effective raffle is eye-catching tickets. Use this raffle ticket template to easily create tickets for the next raffle.

15. Use scissors or a paper cutter to cut the tickets, leaving each set intact. When a person buys a ticket, the seller should separate the tickets right then, giving one ticket to the buyer and dropping the other ticket into the receptacle from which the winning ticket will be drawn.

Microsoft Publisher, the desktop publishing component of the Professional version of the Office Suite, can perform many time-saving tasks for busy business owners, including layout and design work. It can even help you avoid a shopping run to try to find tickets for your next employee picnic, holiday giveaway or executive board meeting. Create your own tickets, including the vital sequential ordering needed for raffles or attendance tracking, using Publisher’s page numbering. With a few tricky manipulations of the page number process, you can start running the numbers in an entirely new fashion.

That would make sense, but there’s a catch: Autonumbered paragraphs on a master page don’t update until you override them. That is, you have to Command/Ctrl-Shift-click on them to make them “kick in” and update to the correct number.

Online Proof: Our online proof is there to give you an idea what your tickets will look like. If you’re not happy with the proof just tell us to send an actual proof (Our Artists have a lot more flexibility then the online proofing). If you’re adding a logo there is no need to request a proof. In either case complete your order and you will receive a proof the next business day.

Now for the tricky bit. Mail Merges usually have the one ‘recipient’ per page. So Word won’t pick out the next number in your list until it gets to a new page. By default, it’ll print you four tickets on each page, all with the same number. Then a new page, all with the next number. Etc.

The raffle ticket paper is pre-numbered and pre-perfed and is available in two http://thedailyrant.net sizes (Large Tickets – 2 3/4″ x 8 1/2″, Small Tickets – 2 1/8″ x 5 1/2″) with 20 different paper colors for each size.

12. To build the document, you will add the first merge field, the room number. To do this, choose Room from the Field list box, and click Insert Print Merge Field. This will place the variable on the document. Next, choose Subject from the Field list box, and click Insert Print Merge Field once more. Now both variables are inserted in the CorelDRAW document.

Since it’s a group of people who have chosen to raise fund using this means the format of the raffle ticket has to be the one agreed upon by the group. The initial stages will thus be those of trial and error as each person will have his/her own opinion of what should be the format and design of the raffle ticket. This site recognizes that such challenges exist and the raffle ticket templates that we offer you will be in a design and format that most if not all of the people will fall in love with. After a certain format is accepted by everyone you will not have to worry about how to come up with new raffle tickets as these can be used over and over again.

Go ahead and open Microsoft Excel. We are going to use Microsoft Excel to create our automated numbering system. First, decide how many tickets you will need. For this example, we are going to make 900 tickets.

In this tutorial I will be teaching how to make the numbers using a tool called blending, which works to fill. Ticket numbering using corel draw X7 and Number-Pro. Easily number raffle tickets, benefit tickets.

Do that again after the number on the third ticket on your page, BUT NOT THE FINAL TICKET ON THE PAGE. Because the final ticket is at the end of the page, and the number will increment automatically at the end of a page. If you put a ‘Next’ field there too, you’ll jump two numbers.

Most changes you make to the top ticket are automatically made on all the other tickets, too. No tiring copying and pasting needed. The template shows just 5 tickets, but once you have them looking the way you want, just multiply them using copy and paste.

Now, you’ll define the actual merge values. In this case, it’s the Ticket Numbers field in the selected Excel workbook. Drag the Ticket Numbers field from the merge pane to the document (Figure G). After dropping the field control, I pressed [Enter] to replace Microsoft with the <> field.

A typical ‘small society lottery’ is a raffle where players buy a ticket with a number on it. The tickets are randomly drawn and those holding the same numbered tickets win prizes. Another version is a sweepstake – for example where the participants pay to randomly pick a name in a ‘guess the name of the teddy’ game. The person who guesses the winning name wins the teddy.

1. Start Microsoft Publisher. Click inside the small field with the magnifying glass in the middle of the Available Templates page, then type “tickets” and click the magnifying glass icon. Review the Publisher ticket options, then double-click a template, such as “Raffle Ticket,” to open the design in the Publisher window.

Thanks I have my word ticket page set up with the code you gave me. Thank you in advance. I need to set up the mail merge so I can print blocks of tickets off as I need them. How do I go about setting this up? Do I have to have a stub, ticket format like the original ticket format?

Write in the information. The sort of information you put onto each ticket varies from raffle to raffle. What matters most is that all tickets are consistent. Except for the ticket number, which should vary from each ticket, each ticket should be roughly the same. While the tickets should be customized to fit the event, here are some details you almost certainly want to have:

Kyle Parker is a computer consultant and filmmaker in Berkeley, Calif. For six years, Parker’s clients have consisted of film students, teachers, small businesses and average folks. Although he specializes in video editing programs, he also trains people in the general use of computers.

Gift certificates and promotional coupons can play an important role in your sequential numbering in word strategy by drawing new and repeat customers to your business. However, how can you tell if they are really working to help you develop your business? To make the most of your time and your marketing budget, you need to track the success of your marketing efforts so that you can determine what marketing tactics are effective for which customers.

What is the best way to set up a document to do this without having to manually enter 300 numbers? The best way to handle this depends on whether you’re using CS2 or CS3. I much prefer the CS3 method.

If you are making the tickets ten-up you can put everything on a master page. Make the ticket number [Page Number][digit 0–9] then fill with pages based on that master. Page 1 will be tickets 10–19, page 29 will be tickets 290–299, etc.

Thanks everyone for your time and comments. What I was hoping to avoid was having to render out every ticket inDesign before printing. Seems like that is unavoidable. I’ll try the way you folks have suggested, thanks again.

It’s pretty easy in Excel. Take your number of tickets you’ll get on a sheet, divide 20000 by that number. That will be your number of rows. Type a 1 in the A1 cell location, type =(A1+1) in the A2 cell location. Paste that in as many rows as you determined. Copy the last cell in your first column. Paste that in cell B1. Copy B1 and paste in as many rows as you had in Column A. Copy column B and paste in column C. Copy C and paste in Column D. Repeat as many times as you have tickets on a sheet until you have enough columns as you do tickets on a sheet. Save as Tab deliminated text and bring into data merge on an imposed sheet. Data http://ringringpromotions.org should be able to build you a document easily with as many sheets as you need and on a 1 knife trimmer you should have neatly stacked tickets in order.

After you set up your list of tracking numbers in the data source and design your publication, you are ready to merge your list of tracking numbers with your publication to create a batch of gift certificates or coupons that each displays a unique tracking number.

The SEQ or Sequential Numbering Function in Word is the best and quickest way to number your tickets. Many raffle ticket templates use them, yet few sites explain how it works. To see if it uses the SEQ function, you need to download the template first. Then, open it in Word, click right in the middle of where a serial number is, and then right-click.

I am using your instructions to create a page of tickets – the design has been created as a picture so I added a text box to “hold” the mail merge instructions but I keep getting the error message “You cannot include DATA, NEXT, NEXTIF, or SKIPIF fields in comments, headers, footers, footnotes or endnotes.” I have not included any of these but I’m wondering if it’s because I’ve attempted to insert it in a text box. Is there an easy way to do this? TIA

So we came up with a way that when each stack was cut they would simply be stack on top of each other. We couldn’t figure out a way to add 8 sets of grouped numbers to 8-up layout so I had to go into the txt file and number it manually. It worked fine but took a little time. Is there an option to pull 8 different sets of numbers to one page? You saved my life! I work at a School Board with 200+ schools and 100+ departments and I have to number every ticket I make.

Does anybody have an easy way to set up sequential numbering in Coreldraw? Our shop has to lay out unit number plaques for vinyl cutting and sometimes my employee has to manually type in hundreds of numbers. I’ve read all the print merge suggestions for raffle tickets and such but I need the numbers entered into an object and not during the print process.

3. Modify any template text with your own custom text by clicking the template text to select the text box. Drag your mouse over the text to highlight it, then begin typing your own text. Your text replaces the template text. To change the text font, highlight your text and go to the ‘Home’ menu. Select the font you want to use from the drop-down font menu.

I need to number 20,000 tickets in InDesign and have them in order when I cut them, I know there is a way to use data merge or something. I just can’t get it to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Numbering of the raffle tickets can be quite a challenge but one can still manage to do this. You could accomplish this by manually numbering the raffle tickets. Alternatively you could use a software program such as Microsoft Excel through a mail-merge operation to number the raffle tickets.

Is there a script out there that you can define the font, size and numbering sequence for Corel? I work for a real estate company and I have to cut 0-500 in various sizes and increments. Sometime the numbers will always end in a Letter (A) or even end with the same numer ( 5001, 5011, 5021, 5031) and so on.

PrintMeister – Starter Kit of blank pre-perforated door hangers, bookmarks, raffle tickets, calendars and post cards, printed samples of all stationery formats and color swatch booklets showing paper types and colors. 1. Create a text frame on the Master page, while dragging, split the frame horizontally and vertically using arrows on the keyboard (Gridify your frame), this way all frames are threaded, you may do the same on both pages of the Masters (Spread) but make sure you link last frame of left Master page and first text frame of right Master page.

Now you are ready to begin inserting your data. To make everything easier, please be sure to have your Mail Merge Toolbar visible. You can enable it by going to Tools > Letters and Mailings > Show Mail Merge Toolbar (displayed in step 3 of this document)

My solution for this when trying to add a number on a page between already existing numbers where to usa a current text frame of the previous number and create a new list object from there. And then I would overset that text and press the overset +-sign to place it on the page. Works perfect.

Once you click on this icon, a dialog will pop up asking you what data you wish to merge. You can either merge all the data (All numbers in the excel file), current record (just 1 sheet), or select a range. I recommend selecting a range, as the Excel file packs contains numbers up to 10,000.

Add unique numbers to gift certificates     By using a unique number on each certificate, you can track when gift certificates are redeemed, by whom, and for what product or service. In addition, by adding unique tracking numbers, you can ensure that the gift certificates are not duplicated or redeemed more than once.

Open your Layers window. If it is not already open, open it by going to (Window > Layers). Rename the layer with the placed pdf ‘Background’ and then create a new layer and name it ‘Numbering’. Lock the ‘Background’ layer. Then select the ‘Numbering’ Layer.

(Advanced) opens the Filter and Sort dialog box, which you can use to filter using multiple criteria. You also can click Filter under Refine recipient list in the Mail Merge Recipients dialog box to open the Filter and Sort dialog box.

Hi Cathy – I’m not sure what would cause that to be honest. Because (even with these instructions!) it can be quite hard to get Word to do this right, I did build a little web-based service to do the same thing. Have you tried that? http://app.raffleticketcreator.com

The script that Mike referred to worked very well with CS2 and was fairly easy to extend to doing counterfoil numbers as well, but doesn’t seem to work with CS3. I have thrown together a small online script to generate the contents of a data source file to do ticket numbering through the normal CS3 InDesign data merge routine.

There is very simple solution that we use and that is to lay out the sheet say 6 up on a A4 sheet as a master page and in document setup set the number of pages to 1,000 if that is the amount you require. Put a page number on each ticket on the page and although they will all have the same number on each page, we put the the first two letters of the customers business name before each number followed by the letters of the alphabet so it then reads for example BT1A, BT2A, BT3A, BT1B, BT2B, BT2C and so on as each page is printed.

When you are ready to print, you will need to either merge the data to a new document or straight to your printer. I recommend merging to a new document so you can preview the entire thing before printing. The icons look like (Merge to Document, Merge to Printer)

Now click on the Microsoft Office Word Help option. Consequently, to the right side of the word document, a support box will pop up. You can easily look for the option Search for and after you find this box, you need to type Create numbered tickets and hit on the green arrow. This Help feature will do all the work for you and it will enlist a number of relevant choices in the area of your search. (501 Microsoft Templates)

Click that, and a placeholder will appear where your cursor was, which will later insert the ticket number at that point. Do that twice for each ticket (once for the counterfoil, once for the main ticket). You should end up with something like this:

The script sets the numbering of multiple gang up tickets so that after cutting the tickets do not need recollating to put back into order (like the CS2 script) but also does counterfoil numbers, prefixes, suffixes, leading zeros and output of pages in reverse order for ‘face up’ printing. The script is. Now I’m feeling rather dumb and frustrated. I just spent the last couple of hour numbering the tickets using keyboard shortcuts to detach the master and substitute numbers. Did 500 tickets this way. Corel crashed repeatedly on my production person today while he was trying to number them using the plug-in. I couldn’t figure out how to make Mike’s script work.

it can be done with almost any software that has print merge function (we use corel draw a lot for such jobs). you create a excel file with numbers, and merge them into design. once you learn it it is easy and fast.

A very common usage for the Print Merge function in CorelDRAW is for adding numbers to tickets or invoices. Unfortunately it can be a bit of a hassle to create the list of numbers. When you have multiple tickets on a single printed sheet, it becomes even more complex as you want each stack of tickets to be in numerical order.

The four templates with automatic serial numbering are quite nice and one of them will most likely be suitable for your needs. You can edit them as well. If you’re going to do that, save the original template separately. Doing so will give you a fresh template, in case you need one.

If you would like to add an image to your comment (not an avatar, but an image to help in making the point of your comment), include the characters [{fig}] in your comment text. You’ll be prompted to upload your image when you submit the comment. Maximum image size is 6Mpixels. Images larger than 600px wide or 1000px tall will be reduced. Up to three images may be included in a comment. All images are subject to review. Commenting privileges may be curtailed if inappropriate images are posted.

Measure out your tickets. If you are keeping your raffle fairly small (>50 people), it is just as easy to write up the tickets all by hand. Take a ruler and cut them out in rows and columns so that you have a bunch of tickets of the same size. If you’re making enough tickets in the raffle to be worth several pages of paper, you might try measuring them out and cutting them all at once. However, this time-saving technique shouldn’t be tried unless you know you’ve gotten your measurements down perfectly.

If you’d rather make your tickets from scratch, take advantage of Publisher’s “Insert” tab to add your own images or draw from the “Shapes” collection. Add the numbers in the same way, starting with Step 3.

1. On the first hand, you need to initiate Microsoft Publisher. You can view a magnifying glass icon and you need to hit inside the little field which shows Available Templates page. Now you should type the Word ‘tickets’ and move your cursor towards the magnifying glass icon. Hit on it. Subsequently you need to evaluate and assess the ticket options in the Microsoft http://ringringpromotions.org After that you can double click on the desired template. For example if you want to open the raffle ticket template just double click on it for the Publisher to open it for you.
