After you set up your list of tracking numbers in the data source and design your publication, you are ready to merge your list of tracking numbers with your publication to create a batch of gift certificates or coupons that each displays a unique tracking number.
Now you are ready to begin inserting your data. To make everything easier, please be sure to have your Mail Merge Toolbar visible. You can enable it by going to Tools > Letters and Mailings > Show Mail Merge Toolbar (displayed in step 3 of this document)

Wait for the tickets to ship. Once you’ve gone through with your order, it’s time to wait for the tickets to ship. Because shipping can take up to a couple of weeks depending where you, it’s a good idea to order your tickets far in advance of the raffle itself. You’ll also want time to sell the tickets after they arrive.
Your neighborhood businesses. These people are normally eager to participate in such activities and approaching them will not be in vain as this is a good venue for selling many raffle tickets. Exercise caution when dealing with high traffic business as they are likely not be responsible for the tickets and the money due to the nature of their businesses. It will be prudent to have one member of the group checking by every day to collect the money.
This is a step-by-step tutorial of how to number your raffle tickets. It is also a great way to learn how to use Microsoft Word’s Mail Merge functionality. When you are going through, there are many times when dialog boxes or other pop-ups may occur. Be sure to read on to the next step, as most of the time there will directions on what to do next.
This is about the 4th time I’ve ordered ticket from you and each time I’ve been impressed with the quality and rapid turn around. But we still seem to have problems with the size of the logo on the back; would like it to be larger than the finished product. Maybe we can get it next year!
Add a page number to it (if you are using labels or cards each is a logical “page”) with Format, Page, Insert Page Number. Insert, Close. This places a [PgNumDisp] code on the label (visible in the Reveal Codes window); you should see a “1” on the label at the insertion point. You can adjust the starting number with the Value/Adjust button, or you can adjust it after the macro is finished (see #5 below).
Create a raffle ticket template in Microsoft Word. Word allows you to generate text boxes for this purpose. Simply create two separate text boxes—one for the main ticket and another smaller one for the stub—and place them side-by-side on a page. Enter your raffle ticket information inside of each of the text boxes, then copy and paste the boxes throughout http://ringringpromotions.org page to complete your template.
To enter your text, click the text box in the template. To add a new text box, click the Add Text Box button from the menu on the left. Move your text boxes by clicking on the edge of the box and dragging it to just the right spot.
I am trying to create raffle tickets, 4 on a page with only a number on the stub. My problem is when I get to the print preview and change it to “multiple pages per sheet” it is just changing the number on the next page and not on the next ticket. I followed all the directions on adding the number to each ticket from the merge document (of course all the step by step information I can find is only for 2007 and NOT 2013 so guessing there is something wrong with what I am doing). When I go into the print screen it is also changing my paper from 8 1/2 x 11 to 11 x 17 and putting 8 on the page.
Summary: Templates are a great way to create new documents because they act as intricate patterns to what those new documents should contain. What if you want the new documents to include some sort of automatically incrementing number? This tip looks at ways you can accomplish the task. (This tip works with Microsoft Word 97, Word 2000, Word 2002, Word 2003, and Word 2007.)
Nicole – I’m not sure. Are the page and margin settings (from step 1) definitely correct? If each ticket was a little too big, so that only two tickets could be fitted on each sheet of paper, that might create the problem you’ve experienced. Other than that, I’m baffled …
CS2 (or earlier) “Cheesy” Numbering There’s an old Steve Martin joke about how to make a million dollars which starts, “First, get a million dollars” That’s the key to this trick, too: First, get a bunch of numbers. Now import or paste those numbers into a thread so that the numbers appear in the right place. If you need two matching numbers, just import it twice. To ensure each number fills its own text frame, select the whole story (Command/Ctrl-A), open the Keep Options (Command/Ctrl-Option/Alt-K) and choose In Next Frame from the Start Paragraph pop-up menu.
This kind of template is very easy and fast for creating a multitude of serialized tickets. You don’t have to change each number or manually update each field. That’s far too tedious. The lottery might be over before you’re done.
2: Cut and Stack within Data Merge using a script I’ve made for the task: Episode 9: Cut and Stack Assistant script – YouTube (the script is available from my website https://colecandoo.com/downloads/ for FREE).
Another fan of Fusion Pro Desktop here. This is exactly what you need. We have sold both PrintShop Mail and Fusion Pro Desktop for this very application (numbering) and other VDP applications. Fusion Pro Desktop easily beats PrintShop Mail from both a price and performance viewpoint. You could also try Printer’s Bench http://www.elkriversystems.com/ProductsList.aspx for a good entry level package
If you work in a business where you need to sequentially number items, you might be wondering if there is a way you can use Word to create the labels for you. Word has many ways you can implement some type of numbering in your documents. For instance, you can use different fields for numbering, or use numbered lists, the captioning feature, or you can use mail merging. While all of these features (and more) use some type of numbering in them, they are not all well suited to creating labels.
Compare manufacturing prices. For any sizable raffle (500+ tickets) it is recommended that you buy tickets from a professional company. This will lessen the workload for you, and there won’t be a risk of potential ticket fraud. There are online outlets that specialize in ticket printing. Check online for a few of these and compare prices to see which one suits you best.
2. Edit the Template to meet your needs. To replace a template graphic with your own, click the graphic to select it, then hit the ‘Delete’ key. The template graphic disappears. Go to the ‘Insert’ menu, select the picture or clip art command, then browse to the image you want to place on your ticket. Click the image to add it to your raffle ticket.
Your raffle might be subject to gaming commission or tax laws. Check with your municipality, state or province, and federal governments to make sure your raffle is legal. These government departments aren’t just enforcers. They are often great resources on how to run a successful fund raising raffle. Raffles are fun! Getting in trouble with the law or tax man is not.

2. Check the existing document for prepopulated ticket numbers. Some Publisher templates include these. Click any numbered box to enable it, then click the “Delete” key to remove it, as you want to start your own sequence. Scroll through any other pages that may have been included with the template, and remove all of the sequenced numbers.
Once you have your new blank document, go to File… > Page Setup… to set the correct size. You want to set this to the size of your raffle ticket, not the size of paper you are printing on. You probably want 4 raffle tickets per page, so if you are printing on A4 then set the size to 20cm wide x 7cm high, with 1cm margins:
Thanks I have my word ticket page set up with the code you gave me. Thank you in advance. I need to set up the mail merge so I can print blocks of tickets off as I need them. How do I go about setting this up? Do I have to have a stub, ticket format like the original ticket format?
I work at a quick copy shop as the in house designer. They JUST moved from manual numbering to digital and each job keeps building and getting worse since I brought digital numbering to their attention. I mean it’s super easy if there’s one number but two per ticket and 8 up? It’s hard with limited tools but doable.
Looks like it works only for one line message, and does not work if my label contains 2 lines, e.g. the 1st line says Trade Show items, the 2nd line says carton number 1 of 30; 2 of 30. Also can I centre it vertically?
Create the text frame for the numbers in InDesign and if there are more than one ticket per page, link them. Place the text file into the first frame with a shift click to auto flow and create new pages.
Enter your own text into the template once it is opened in Publisher. Click in the text boxes on the template to enter text. To change the color of the text, highlight it and use the tools under “Format” and “Font” to change the font color.

You need at least one space to make the autonumbering kick in. Now Option/Alt-click on the Autonumbering button in the Control panel (or choose Bullets and Numbering from the Control panel flyout menu) and choose the list you created in the Lists pop-up menu. You might want to adjust the other settings to match this: Now you’re done. Click OK and you should see the number appear in the text frame.
Note: If you have already created a business information set, your business contact information and logo automatically replaces some of the placeholder text. For more information, see Create, change, or remove business information data.
Type the text that elaborates the organization that the raffle is meant to benefit, the date as well as the cost of each raffle ticket, the items that are to be worn and some space for the ticket holder’s information.
