Hello Bruce, I seem to be having a different problem altogether. I created my ticket in word using logos and text boxes as needed, ticket looks great. I followed your very clear instructions but when I did the Finish & Merge I got this message, "You cannot include DATA, NEXT, NEXTIF, or SKIPIF fields in comments, headers, footers, footnotes or endnotes." I then click on OK and get this, "A field calculation error occurred in record 1. Bruce any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!!

The only glitch is that our shipping cost estimator only works with US Zip Codes. To estimate shipping costs outside the US, add the item or items to your shopping cart and begin the check out process. I know that PrintShopMail will do it, but I was wandering if there was a less expensive solution out there so that I could get numbered tickets (usually 4-up) right off the Xerox. I just want to avoid having to go the the Windmill after trimming and doing it the old fashion way. There is a tiny little copy shop here in town that is doing it, and am willing to bet that they are not using PrintShopMail, but I'm also not going to ask them to share their methods with a competitor. There has to be cheaper solution. I know that I can do it with auto page numbering in Indesign, but that means I can only print raffle tickets 1-up which wont work.

I have done this twice now, getting flustered. The ticket part the person keeps has the correct sequential number on it, but the side that we keep has the same number on it for the whole page. What part am I missing, at first I did not uncheck the box, but this time I did but have the same number on the stub side that we keep with the person's name, etc

Black ink is less expensive than colored ink, so black and white tickets are less expensive than colored tickets, but once you've chosen color tickets, go ahead and print rainbows if you like! It's all about the features. The first price quote you saw was based on the least expensive options: colored paper with no frills. If you choose white paper, which is heavier than colored paper, it will cost more. Select colored paper and the price will return to the original quote. Adding stapling or your own image to the back of the template will also change the price of the order.
I am getting my tickets to number on one side of it. However, I am needing my tickets to have the number on each side, but one side will not number. I have tried several times and it will not number on both sides. I am using an avery template that is printing 10 tickets per page, stub and tearable ticket. But the stub will not number while the tearable ticket will.
You can leave a line blank on the online template, and that space will remain blank on your finished print product. However, since our templates are standardized and the process is automated, there is no way to add a line of text or to reposition the text without paying for a Custom Ticket order. Since the ordering process is different for online and custom products please do not complete your online order. Simply create an account online and add the tickets to your cart. That depends on the template you've chosen. Each template features a unique design and layout, so the number of characters per line is different for every online template. Don't worry; it's easy to tell whether or not your text fits on the template. Just enter all your information into the ticket template and then click "View Proof" at the bottom of the page. If your text doesn't fit, any lines with too many characters will appear in red on your proof. From there, you can go back to the template and make it work: either shorten the line or try to break it up in two lines, if the template layout allows for that. Remember that capital letters need more space than lower case letters, and vertical layouts usually allow for less text than horizontal layouts.

For a small fee, we can print any kind of graphics on your wristbands whether you choose either a graphic from our image library or your own logo or image, save in a common file format at 300 dpi resolution at print size. As you consider design, just remember that the printable area of an Event Wristband measures 0.85 x 7 inches, which means your logo will be fairly small. Small text within your graphic will probably not be readable. Don't despair! There's a fix for that: in many cases, our design team can erase small text from the graphic. There is very simple solution that we use and that is to lay out the sheet say 6 up on a A4 sheet as a master page and in document setup set the number of pages to 1,000 if that is the amount you require. Put a page number on each ticket on the page and although they will all have the same number on each page, we put the the first two letters of the customers business name before each number followed by the letters of the alphabet so it then reads for example BT1A, BT2A, BT3A, BT1B, BT2B, BT2C and so on as each page is printed.

Peter is correct and for the life of me I can never replicate a ticket the 2nd time. I only do tickets 2-3 times a year. The rest of the time the order is so large I sub it out to tickets printer. My question is how do you place the same list over and over? Let's say the tickets are 3 up and you need 600 tickets. I can see placing the file with #s 1-200 top ticket on the stub, then placing it again for the ticket itself. But wouldn't you need 2 more files: from 201-400 and 401-600 to end up with correct imposition for print, cut, stack?

Not only does it look more professional, but the tickets will tear off more easily along the perforation. I am creating a file in inDesign for a client that is asking for numbered tickets. They'd like to be able to print a specific number for each ticket. I've read some of the older answers for similar questions that refer to Data Merge, but I'd prefer not to take that route if avoidable. What I'd ultimately like to do is create a space for the numbers to go, select the number of pages within the Print menu, and have the spaces populate with the corresponding numbers while printing.

By using your favorite spellchecker before you add that text to the template, you can ensure that your product has that professional look.
