One of the easiest ways to begin applying numbers is by starting to type a numbered list. Word recognizes that you are creating a list and responds accordingly by converting text that you type into numbered items. The number scheme, delimiter characters that mark the beginning or end of a unit of data and formatting are all based on what you have typed.
So how long should a doc number be? There’s no hard & fast rule, but a document number can be as short as 5 digits, with a simple discipline descriptor and a sequential number assigned to certain project elements. Most projects can benefit from a numbering protocol that is under 15 digits in length. When broken down, it only needs to hold Author-Discipline-Project Location-Sequence. This is far easier to understand for everyone on the project and, most importantly, its simplicity means there’s less chance of someone, somewhere, making a mistake.

One solution is to format the heading with the style and follow it with a hidden paragraph mark. You should format the text in the next paragraph with a style that is not included in the Table of Contents. A hidden paragraph mark keeps the text together on one line when it is printed, even though it is actually two separate paragraphs. The Table of Contents command picks up only those paragraphs with heading styles and places them into the Table of Contents.
For other Procedures, Work Instructions, Forms, etc,etc i used a 5 digit number/1 letter prefix starting from 00001 then just carried on as events demanded. Never likely to be (numerically) exceeded IMO.
As a Business Analyst, it’s hard to imagine giving up documentation altogether, and I’m not completely convinced it’s the right thing to do (especially not my current project, which spans four continents). But agilists are right to challenge the document-heavy approach. If I do hang on to my documentation, I’ll be making sure I’m doing it for the right reasons – as a means to an end – to deliver working software – not as an end in its own right. A good book on this topic is Agile Documentation by Andreas Ruping, who talks about documentation being “light but sufficient”.
Owner’s equity accounts include your investment in the business. In case you decide to take on other investors somewhere along the line, you should include accounts for common stock and, perhaps, preferred stock. You will want an account for retained earnings for any profits you plow back into the company. You usually start the owner’s equity accounts with 3000.

Enter the maximum number of rows that are available to print the sales order detail attachment. If the document is defined as a one-page document, then the value in this field must be less than the value in the Detail Section Total Number of Rows field.

When you add accounts to a Chart of Accounts, remember to distribute the revised list to any employees that use this list for recording transactions into the bookkeeping system. Employees not directly involved in bookkeeping will need a copy of the Chart of Accounts if they code invoices or other transactions and need to indicate to which account those transactions should be recorded.
NCR Forms provide the functionality of carbon paper without the carbon paper. They are available in 2-part, 3-part and 4-part colored sets to clearly identify each page of the form. NCR Forms come padded in collated sets or binded in books preprinted in either 1 or 2 colors. Numbering and Barcode can be added if you prefer or when set serialized forms are required.
This is like yours, just uses “V” instead of “Issue ” and “D”/”F” instead of ” Draft “/” Final ” to keep my filename a bit shorter. And then after a final version, if I make a further final version (ie a minor revision to a final document), I can make it clear it’s F02 which replaces F01, whereas if I am making a draft for a new version, the major version number goes up and then I have D01 for draft.
The screen shot shows how I want the first page to print out. I started out in InDesign with the 2up I had made & exported to PDF with both numbers as variable text frames. Am I able to set up different rules for each variable text frame? It puts all the rules together, and I’m sure that’s part of the problem. Last time Fushion Pro composed a PDF it was 4,500 pages (which is correct) but they were all exactly the same like they look here. I don’t get it.
It is important that the barcode is not cut off or distorted. Barcodes printed over a pattern or text will not be scan able. If you are using the Heat Sensitive Security paper and print a barcode on the side with the micro text, the barcode will not be scan able. It is also important to keep the area white behind the barcode, making sure there are no patterns or colors to interfere with the scanning.

When you apply a list using the buttons, you are not applying a style. If you drop down the styles list, does it show “List Number” as the style in use? On my computer it shows the same style I started with, i.e. Body Text. When you apply a list number style directly, from the Styles list, do your changes to that style apply?
