Microsoft Publisher might seem like a secondary choice next to so many dedicated competitors from other companies, but don't be fooled – this is some of the best publishing software around. Granted, it has its drawbacks – we wish it offered some more impressive graphic design tools – but as a product for laying out your family's next scrapbook page or putting together a new resume, it's one of the best. It has some of the best typography and template tools of any DTP software. Another hug bonus is its availability. Most people already have access to it, whether they know it or not, since it is included in the Microsoft Office package. This is multifunctional software that will help you create all kinds of documents and publications.
Another possible solution if this is a document that has to be read by several or many people is to consider (remember we are talking about a 300 page document) creating a eBook format. Then the reader has some control over the format, or they can leave it alone. With a document this large, I would often load it onto a laptop, eReader, even a phone as the possibility of me being able to find the time to read it at one sitting without interruptions are very slim. This is not effective for all situations but I have found that when I am doing an intensive white paper, which might run into this many pages, the audience likes the ability to move it around to various device as they are reading. You can read PDF in a eReader, but by establishing it in LIT or ePub format then can comfortably read it on a phone, tablet, eReader, or laptop, as well as the main computer. Free programs like calibre will do the conversions for you, as well as be available to read it. On my android phone and tablet I use Aldiko which reads ePub, also free, and as an added bonus you can use the Calibre as a content server to download to you phone or tablet.
“Each license should only be used by one person. It can be installed up to three times for the convenience of being able to use it on a laptop vs. desktop vs. tablet. The license can only be open and running on one machine at a time. More information is available in our EULA (www.corel.com/eula). In the scenario you described, the company would need to buy four full licenses of CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X7, or if they have one license of X6 or X5, they could purchase one upgrade and three full licenses. We do validate serial numbers from previous versions when installing a purchased upgrade, so it’s not possible to install an upgrade if you do not own one of the two previous versions of CorelDRAW (i.e. you must own X4 or X5 to purchase an upgrade of X6). That being said, we also offer volume licensing prices for anyone buying two or more copies of CorelDRAW.”
Second (and more interesting) is that you can apply text formatting to text frames you’ve selected using the Selection tool or the Direct Selection tool. When you do this, InDesign applies the formatting to all of the text in the text frame, including any overset text. InDesign won’t let you use this method to apply formatting to text frames that are linked to other text frames. Tired of using the Type tool to select and format every photo caption on a page? Use the Selection tool to select them all and apply your formatting—it’s easier, and it’s quicker (see Figure 4-1).
Enjoy a more natural drawing experience and achieve more expressive results with the native support for Microsoft Surface, and advanced stylus support. Take advantage of pressure, bearing, tilt, and rotation when using the touch-up tools, painting and other brush tools within the applications. Experiment with rotation, flatness and elongation settings to control your brushstrokes in any given illustration.

Cons: The one thing i can say that i didn't pretty much like with coreldraw is that it is somehow hard to learn, it takes a long time before you get use to the user interface and also the shortcut keys are not common unlike the Microsoft shortcut keys that are straight forward, but once you get use to the system, then sky is your limit because it's fun working with coreldraw and so many wonderful things can be done on it.
Running captions number figures, tables, and other items consecutively in a document. For example, the first figure caption starts with the words “Figure 1,” the second with “Figure 2,” and so on. To make sure that figures, tables, or similar items are numbered consecutively, define a list for the item, and then create a paragraph style that includes the list definition. You can also add descriptive words such as “Figure” or “Table” to the numbering scheme of the paragraph style.
Last year, though, a brilliant production artist mentioned to me that nobody really knows picas except for people with newspaper training. Whether this is true or not, it freed me up to work in inches. Let go of your guilt and work in the measurement system you prefer. Choose different options from the Horizontal and Vertical menus in the Units & Increments panel of the Preferences dialog.
Should stability issues occur when logged on as a specific user, try creating a new user account with the same permissions and run the application. If the problem(s) no longer occurs, they may have been related to the specific user profile. For information on creating user accounts in Windows XP 32\\64 bit, Windows Vista 32\\64 bit, and Windows 7 32\\64 bit operating systems, please consult the Windows Help files.
The "Color mode" refers to the way in which we use the file, in this case, for high quality printing. The first choice is between RGB or CMYK color modes. RGB has brighter shades but is only good for web and desktop printers (for example inkjet printers) and plotters, but not for commercial printing. RGB has 16.8 million colors and CMYK only 64,000 but all commercial printers use CMYK. If you use a RGB color profile, the color mode will change when the file is sent to print, and perhaps the result will be bad or inaccurate. Then, you should choose CMYK as the "primary color mode" in both dialogues of Tools > Color Management.

Not working on Mac, but had the same issue on my PC (both in v.13 and 14). It disappeared after uninstalling CC Desktop Application after finishing ID installation (with Adobe uninstaller – https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html) I’m not using CC Cloud so it’s not a problem for me, but I guess it will be a problem if somebody actually needs CC Desktop APP.

If you have Office professional, it comes with MS Publisher. I use that for newsletters and flyers as it’s much easier to control where the text and photos appear. You’d still need to export it as a .pdf, otherwise most people wouldn’t be able to read it. And even if they had MS Publisher, they would still need to have the same fonts installed for it to look the same.
Cons: Perhaps the only limitation I find in CorelDRAW is the need to innovate in terms of using simpler commands for users who are not as skilled. Sometimes having to look in the menu of the program with the mouse cursor, it becomes somewhat uncomfortable for those who are not so professional and are approaching the world of graphic design for the first time.
Use "Format Page Numbers" for specific changes, like types of numbers and chapter headings. If you want to go the extra mile, double-click on the header or footer once again. Click "Page Numbers," then click "Format Page Numbers" under the menu that appears. From here, you can set different types of numbers, like Roman numerals or letters, as well as customize the basic appearance of numbers. It is not incredibly robust, but it works.
Word's numbered list feature is easy to use but modifying the results isn't always as intuitive as you might like. As is often the case with Office, knowing the right setting to use and where to find it is the key. In this article, we'll take a basic look at Word's numbering feature and then move on to two common problems—indents and alignment—that are easy to solve if you know where to look and how to alter the setting to get the results you want.
Microsoft Publisher, the desktop publishing component of the Professional version of the Office Suite, can perform many time-saving tasks for busy business owners, including layout and design work. It can even help you avoid a shopping run to try to find tickets for your next employee picnic, holiday giveaway or executive board meeting. Create your own tickets, including the vital sequential ordering needed for raffles or attendance tracking, using Publisher’s page numbering. With a few tricky manipulations of the page number process, you can start running the numbers in an entirely new fashion.
Why would you need another panel for applying formatting to text or objects? Adobe has found that InDesign’s plethora of panels and dialog boxes can be confusing, especially for those who are new to InDesign, or who use it less frequently. So, following the lead of Illustrator CC and Photoshop CC, the new Properties panel shows many of the relevant layout commands. And while it doesn’t offer all the same features as the Control panel (which still exists), even if you are an experienced user you may find the Properties panel faster for some of your workflows because most of your needed commands are found in one place.
I am using Corel draw since last 6 six years . It's a fantastic software to create graphics , visiting cards, pamphlets and leaflets. Shape tool is my favourite tool in Corel draw. There are many other tools which saves my lots of time. Transformation, clipping, convert to curves etc etc. There are endless things to share about Corel draw beauty. In short it is best software to new beginner in the field of graphic designing.
Pros: CorelDraw is an excellent graphic app for creating great amazing graphic designs. This is my first time using the application and I find it easy and understandable. Its not hard at all. CorelDraw have many features and tools that will help you in creating amazing visual designs from webpages to book designs. Its easy at any level whether you are a new beginner in designing graphics or a highly skillful graphic artist. Every time I open this application I am never disappointed. Truly a great app. Another thing I really enjoy is that they have a CorelDraw Community where you can get together and share what you have learned. Great place to get assistance if needed.
The auto-indenting feature of bullets and lists has always frustrated me. EVERY time you apply a numbered or bulleted list, you've got to set the indents. I want my lists to be indented at the very left of the page, flush with the rest of the paragraphs. But no, Microsoft insists that you want them indented by 0.63cm and hanging at 1.27cm (WHY 0.63? Why not 0.7? Or 1.0cm? But that's a question for a different session.) (I know, it's because MS is American and still uses inches etc...)
To create an index entry which refers to another entry, select one of the cross-reference options (such as See or See also) from the Type pop‑up menu, and input the entry name in the Referenced text box, or drag the existing entry from the list at the bottom to the Referenced box. You can also customize the See and See also terms displayed in the cross-reference entries by selecting Custom Cross Reference from the Type pop‑up menu. (See Add “See” or “See also” cross-references to an index.)
